facebook account name

Hi VJ Members,

First i want to say thank you for being to helpful to me.

I only have concern with regards to facebook account name as we already passed our documents i-129f and got already the receipt NOA1. My question is that, on the screen shot that we sent ( fb conversation ) it appears my name with my fiancee's name and his surname. So to make it clear, i used my fiancee's surname on my fb account, i wonder if this will affect our documents/petition and possible to be denied it coz of it.

Please help me to ease my feeling as im so worried about it.

Worst case scenario (and this is if they even notice) is that they might think you're married. There's been instances where a couple have called each other hubby and wifey even though they were just engaged and they got denied because the embassy thought they were already married. Hopefully this won't happen in your case.

I think you should just explain honestly why you have it this way. Facebook allows you to have any name and "children", I have a few of my friends as "children" on facebook. There is nothing wrong with calling each other "hubby" and "wifey", people just show love for each other. If I'm not mistaken there are documents like police certificate you'll need for the interview which show all of your names you've ever used, some other documetns too, there should be proof in them that you haven't been married to this person and used that surname as more of a nickname. Since as I understand you've already sent it to USCIS if any questions of this sort are asked at your interview, answer honestly and truthfully.

Well what im worried is that it will denied already and we will not be able to get the NOA2. Because in interview im confident to prove them that were not marrie (if ever they'l ask me).

I already changed my name in facebook anyway. And im really hoping that it wont affect our petition.

You should check the older threads. Plenty of people getting in trouble for calling each other wifey and hubby. Suddenly they were considered married and could not file for K1. They had to get married and file for spousal visa.

From my understanding that Adjudicators spend an average of 15 minutes on each petition, even thought proof of relationship is required they might and might not look closely at it at this stage. On the other hand, proof of relationship maybe of more importance at the Embassy during your interview with the CO. If and when the time comes and you are asked about it, then you can be honest and tell the truth. CO's are trained and smart when it comes to finding out the truth and I personally think you should not worry about it specially if got approved and receive NOA2.

During my K1 process, I submitted screenshots of skype and whatsapp messages whereby I called my husband back then fiance "hubby" and he called me "wifey" every single time.

I was not asked during the interview. Hope that helps.

PS: The messages of calling each other that is after proposal btw.

Just as a heads-up, you should have your legal name on your Facebook account. Facebook disabled my account a while ago saying that I was not using my own name and it took several rounds of sending them a photo of my Certificate of Naturalization (my only photo ID with my legal name on it) to get them to let me back into my account again.

Thank you to all your comments and apologize for the late response.

To make it clear, we dont call each other "HUBBY & WIFEY" . What happen is that i put my husband's nickname and surname after my given name in Facebook ( just so excited where its showing into our screenshot fb conversation ( the one sent with I129f ). Thats what im worried of that we might going to denied and will not received our NOA2.

And its been 62 days waiting for our NOA2. Makes me worried.

The consular phase is the stage to be truly worried about this.

People need to treat all phases of the immigration process with great seriousness.
