I'm on the Golddigger Retirement Plan, as a good CABA should.

Teddy, your CABA wife is just fooling you into thinking she's putting money away! That money is going on purses and Cheetos. She'll be relying on YOU in your dotage so chop chop!

I know the reality of it all Maven, but a broken and beaten man needs something to hold on to. The only thing that keeps me going is living in this delusional dream world that some day I will retire to the pristine beaches of Ankara with bikini clad models serving me drinks with little umbrellas and waiting on my every whim.

One thing I disagree with on the article. We have a 401k but no matching. I don't participate. I would much rather put my yearly contribution in an IRA that I can manage. Same net effect on taxes

It's different everywhere. At my work we have a profit sharing plan where my employer contributes annually and an optional 401k with no match. My wife has a 401k at her work with a 4% match on contributions up to 15% of her income and we can adjust the areas where the money goes. They have low, medium and high risk options to which she can contribute. Right now we've got it set at 33%/33%/34% accordingly. We will monitor it every few years and adjust accordingly.
