Just by spending the last 5 minutes reading this thread I can see why there was so much suspicion.

What were your miss-matches in the Stokes interview?

Bye: Penguin

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

OP, there are quite a few discrepancies in your story.

1. You said your wife didn't know about your private bank account and then you said your wife already knew about your private bank account. During the Stokes interview she said she didn't know and you apparently said she knew. This is confusing.

2. You said you don't have a lawyer (citing confidence in your application) and then you said you had a lawyer. Which is it?

3. If the permanent resident spouse (you) has enough income and/or assets on their own to meet the 125% requirement, then no joint sponsor is needed for the couple. You say your sponsorship application was declined. If you met the requirement, what was the reason USCIS gave you for needing a joint sponsor? Did you not actually meet the requirement? If you met the requirement, USCIS will not force an unneeded 3rd party into your immigration process. Something is not adding up.

4. Even if your wife used a computer-generated signature which doesn't match her hand-written signature, she was there in the interview to confirm that she indeed signed the form. Why would they accuse you of forgery if she confirms everything in person? There just has to be more to this.

Op, you mentioned you had a separate bank account. Do you have any joint ones, and other co-mingling of finances? Your previous thread seems to suggest that could be the issue, as it was specifically mentioned in the interview letter: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/595137-urgent-please-help/

I'd still like to know what otehr discrepancies there were between your wife's and your answers.

@chimichanga: Our combined income is all lower than 20k for both year.

@Cheezees: Yes, she knew I had a personal bank account but when the IO asked about how much I had, my wife couldn't answer it. I just retained the lawyer after the interview to ask for legal advice. They did not give me the reason why they did not accept my assets; I believe they thought I have fraud money or something (they couldn't prove it) although I submitted my bank account and car title.

4) I had no idea for real. Guess we were in bad luck!!!

@Penguin_ie: Yes I specified the evidence in page 2. We had like 4-5 wrong answers (restaurant, first day, bank account, etc) I believe and IO played the tape in front of my wife to confirm the inconsistencies with her.

Oh, you were the one that said your interview letter was "different" from what you had received, but couldn't explain why you had anything to compare that letter to...

If it was your first interview letter, how do you know it was "different."

You also suspected it was "different" because it'd be a Stokes, which also suggests that you had a feeling something was not right with your case...

AOS for my husband

We had a Stokes interview and the officer was already onto us at the first step in the reception. He separated us immediately and after 3.5 hours, he decided to deny us and said we would receive a denial notice in the mail within 7 days. He did not give us a second interview at all or let me explain any discrepancies in the interview answers. I contacted a lawyer and she said I should wait for the denial notice before making any decision.

Since our marriage is legit and the officer gave us the option to re-file it again, we gonna take the shot of reapplying. So does anyone know if the denial is gonna affect our interview again next year?

We're both very stressed and depressed. The officer was real mean since he told my wife I used her to enter us and bring my family to here if I have a green card. He didn't say it verbatim but he implied he didn't want more immigrants to come and stay in America.

Any news about your case? Updates?
