We just got started on the Russian movies, well, at least I did; Elena's been watching them for years!

So far, I like:

охота на пиранью - "Pirhanna Hunter" (Good action/adventure flick, funny too!)

9 рота - "Company 9" (Afghan war movie... action/drama. Good realism.)

I haven't been able to get the subtitles working yet, but I did get another DVD player from a coworker of mine, so I'm going to try a few other movies too, specifically "личный номер" - Personal Number (Countdown movie, Intl. title; which I started watching before but stopped after I couldn't get it to play on my previous DVD player. Should work now though.) and probably Night Watch.

I didn't like "чистилище" - Purgatory (Chechnyan war movie... made by a woman and looked like it was filmed for Lifetime or We. Just totally unrealistic.) and I actually fell asleep during this flick. We watched another movie too, about a guy that had an apartment in Moscow and got drunk on New Year's and went to Leningrad where his Soviet apartment key worked inside some chick's Soviet apartment on the same named street and same numbered house/apart that he lived in back in Moscow. He ended up having to break up with his girl, she broke up with her guy, and they ended up together. Good story, I just didn't need the 3 hour long movie to play it out. Could've been done in a short play.

Other than those couple of movies..... I haven't seen too many. Moscowflix isn't exactly quick in their processing, so as soon as they get more movies, I'll see more. Til then.... Go see 300!

Москва слезам не верит is one of my favorites too. But how can you leave out the classic Ирония Судьбы, или с легким паром! I guess everyone has seen this a few million times by now...

Мастер и Маргарита was a 10 part TV series that was very popular, we watched this last year.

Some good news over the weekend - our AOS interview is April 11th - not bad after mailing the AOS package the first week of January.
