yup. The trains will run on time with the fascists at least.

Here's one for you - Libertarianism is a form of anarchy...

Oh well. At least Libertarians have a sense of humor.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senator Barack Obama
Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt

Wow, just wow! all these people on VJ blasting the government for interfering in their lives, the lost of freedom, now love facism? I guess I should clk it up to the government's very successful 20th century redefinition of anarchism as chaos.

unless one is well armed and in an isolated area, i can't see why one would want anarchy, especially in a big city.

Then I think you need to check into what anarchism really is, or could be.

Frankly, the possibilities with anarchy are endless, and while I wouldn't choose it over other ways of living, it's certainly 1000 times better than fascism. C'mon people! You're starting to scare me again!

perhaps you should consider all that anarchy entails ;)

It's not a given that law and order would break down, or that there would be no law enforcement structures.

an·ar·chy /ˈænərki/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[an-er-kee] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation

–noun 1. a state of society without government or law.

2. political and social disorder due to the absence of governmental control: The death of the king was followed by a year of anarchy.

3. a theory that regards the absence of all direct or coercive government as a political ideal and that proposes the cooperative and voluntary association of individuals and groups as the principal mode of organized society.

4. confusion; chaos; disorder: Intellectual and moral anarchy followed his loss of faith.

I think the political theory goes a little beyond the dictionary definition, don't you?

Charles, we're discussing #3 at best, at any rate. Not other uses of the term. Note the use of "organized society" in that definition. ;)

Hard question because I wouldn't want to live in either place. I'd find it hard to believe that anarchy would be like some of you are trying to make it out to be. If anyone knows of a peaceful anarchist society, please give me a link with info or something because if it has existed, I'd like to see an example of it before I made my decision. Anarchy IMO would depend too much on the cooperation of all the people in that society. I don't think that is realistic. Just watching the news for a few minutes, you get to see a lot of people who don't seem to care about their fellow man or what they do to them. How would they fit in to an anarchist society? What would be done about that? Curious.

I don't think there are any anarchists here arguing for it! But it seems better than fascism to me any day.

I think anarchist ideals are much better for mankind than fascist ideals, although there are obviously lots of problems implementing those ideals in the RW. Libertarian socialism is very interesting, IMO, but I'm hardly a scholar in the area. It seems like we can work within the confines of our current system to dry to deconstruct some of the power imbalances that stratify us into classes and result in so much suffering for so many under the elite few.
