Hello,

I had diligently put together my I-130 packet for my wife to make sure I don't receive a RFE.. and to my dismay yesterday I saw RFE sitting in my mailbox. I open it and the first page is correct has all the right information about me and my wife. But then the second page had a RFE for birth certificate for someone else's name! (I had already included birth certificate and notarized translation for my wife) I double checked online as well and it said there as well an RFE was mailed to me. So I called USCIS and the agent said they have submitted request to have it looked into and they'll get back to me within 30 days... :( So did they completely mix up my wife's file with someone else's?!

I'm pretty surprised they made such a big blunder.. Has this happened to anyone else before and how fast does USCIS fix mistakes like this?

Thank you

They do loose things especially in the first process

when you send them anything now, be sure to put your case number and DOB of both in upper right hand corner

it will help them to keep documents together

they probably mixed them up when opening packets before assigning your case number

now you have one, use it for all things /every paper / every time/ originals and translations

Thanks, thats good to know. I'll be sure to do that if they make me submit more documents. I am hoping they'll be able to fix their mistake and find the complete file without needing me to resubmit anything..

I read somewhere that you can request expedition if USCIS had an error with your case. Which in your case that did happen so you should call everyday asking for an update and at the end when they give you a conclusion and if they took long request an expedition since there was an error from their side

USCIS makes unbelievable mistakes quite often. my brothers petition was submitted in Sep.2015 and approved in Feb 2016 but we didnt receive NOA2. We submitted online query and in response received a reply that our case was approved in july 2011 and case was sent to NVC.
