I wish. :\

Actually, we have some news. We got a touch on his EAD case for 12/30/2007. I don't get it. Hopefully this means that they got his whole case out of storage and are looking at it and we'll have news when we get back and won't have to go in for the Infopass appointment.

Well, we had our umpteenth Infopass appointment today to find out what they found out about our case (were told in November that our case was sent to deep storage prior to any decision being made - case was going to be sent to Chicago and they were to notify us what was going on and if we didn't hear from them by january to come in for an appointment).

We got up there and the IO (a different one than last time) told us that our case was still in deep storage. I started to freak out a little, but then she told us that it had in fact been sent to the Chicago office, was held there for about a week and then sent right back to storage without any explanation or decision...nothing.

She asked the supervisor (who looked at the case) and he had nothing useful to say about it. She said it's been moved from NSC, CSC, Texas, CSC, storage, Chicago, storage, yet there's NO information about how far along our case is. She says we're supposed to have an interview (despite the fact that it was sent to California), but that his fingerprints were cleared (is this the same as FBI clearance?)

She was very upset about all of this, half as sympathy to how much we've been dicked around and half as annoyance that she's the one who will have to deal with this case now (she made that very clear many times...I felt sorry that she had to clean up other people's messes, but...not our problem).

She said she'd call the storage center and ask for it to be sent back to Chicago again, but also find out what is in our file currently and that she'd call us once she knew something. She told us not to renew EAD until we heard from her, so I'm hoping she gets back to us soon because his EAD expires in 4 months. :|

There was a lot of other discussion that I didn't understand, but that's the bones of it. The good news is it looks like he has cleared name checks (possibly); the bad news is, we may have to have an interview after all. I hope they tell us very soon because I'm about ready to move us to England.

 I can't half blame you. It's funny you just posted, CellarLily, because I was thinking about you today and was just about to hunt down this thread and ask. I don't blame the officer for being ticked. Hopefully it'll sink in that you're even more ticked than she is. So.... good news in a way. It sounds like he's cleared the namecheck but someone keeps dropping the ball. At least it sounds like you've found someone who's finally going to do some follow-up.

Sometimes I'm totally serious about it, too! I'm sure their immigration system has craziness, too, but I can't imagine they're this incompetent.

I do hope that this time we got an IO that actually cares about our case enough to follow it through to the end. It would stink having to do an interview after thinking we wouldn't, but I'm not really nervous about that.

Thank you for thinking of us, though. :) I was ready to spit nails while leaving the office, but maybe there's light at the end of the tunnel.

Well, seems like a repeat of your last Infopass - except you now know for sure that your husband is not on any FBI Most Wanted list or anything. He may not have his permanent status, he may soon be worrying about his EAD, but at least he knows he's not a wanted man! Boy, what a load off, lol.

All kidding aside - one can only hope that with each fresh pair of hands your case falls into that someone will actually do something with those hands and their opposable thumbs besides stick them you know where.

Continued luck to you both - I'm still rooting for ya!

SNZ- I hope your Infopass appointment went well and they were able to give you some answers.

I finally broke down and contacted our local congressman's office. Not even 30 minutes after having faxed them a letter I got a call back. They're pretty disturbed at how messed up our case has been, so they're going to try to get us some answers. I finally feel like someone outside of this community is on our side!

My wife got her Welcoming Email! We are sooo happy, and I hope everyone who is still waiting gets this same feeling soon.

Someone I work with told me he heard on the radio that USCIS is going to give greencards to everyone that has waited over 6 months to clear namechecks (something about a lot of lawsuits filed against the FBI). I came home and went on the internet to check into it. That's when I saw the email. So obviously I didn't check into it, but people who are still waiting should take a look.

Our prayers are with everyone who is still waiting.

I'd go in for an Infopass appointment and get your congressman involved. Our case has been all kinds of messed up and is only now has been dragged from wherever it used to be to our local office and will hopefully be looked at soon.

I know a lot of people wait longer than a year, but given that quite a few people who filed in December already have their green cards, we definitely have reason to complain and demand that our cases be looked at.

Good luck!

No real news to share. Despite being told his AOS case would definitely be completed by now and told not to apply for a renewal EAD, nothing is happening and we applied for his renewal EAD late. It took them less than a week to cash the check. They sure don't have a backlog in the accounting department! :D

Our Infopass appointment three weeks ago was pointless...we were just told that it's on a supervisor's desk and they'll contact us when they need us. Our congressman's office isn't returning my e-mails. And if I see another March 2008 filer who has their green card already, I'm going to scream.
