Some people take several months or years to get through namechecks and FBI clearance. Unfortunately, that's why some people here have been waiting so long. :\

OH! One fun thing we noticed: my husband's birthdate is incorrect on his EAD card, but we're terrified to send it back after all the problems we had with getting it in the mail in the first place. It's just a day off, but we'll have to make sure his GC isn't wrong when it gets printed (c'mon GC!)

Gosh. How did I miss this? I wouldn't worry about the incorrect birthdate, either, CellarLily. Especially given the difficulties you had in getting it to begin with! sheesh. Besides.... when his GC comes soon.... WITH THE CORRECT DATE.... you won't need it. Waiting to read that post, now CL!

transferd to another office to continue the process....but for the other office to retrieve the file it can take up to 2 weeks??? does this make sense??? are we soon done???

Yes, it makes sense. Having worked in records management I can tell you that there is a legal time limit in which records departments have time to respond to a request. Two weeks is a fairly short time period to pull a hard copy and send it to the requestor. I believe what's happening is that there was a hit on your husband's name, and now they have to request a file from whatever body has it archived. Not to worry. It will eventually get processed.

Here's hoping!! We are really putting faith in whomever produces the cards to not make the same mistake twice.

hello everyone...well just got some news form my senators office....i guess my husband has been in FBI clearance this WHOLE time...something about that just is not right..so then it is going to be transferd to another office to continue the process....but for the other office to retrieve the file it can take up to 2 weeks??? does this make sense??? are we soon done???

Nannygirl:

I'm so sorry to hear that it's going under an FBI clearance. I had that with my fiance at the time and it took 9 weeks! to finally get the clearance and they kept stringing us along to call in 2 days, 2 weeks, 1 week, and so on. Hang in there. When you least expect it, you'll get the clearance. The problem is that there is someone else with the same name and possibly date of birth and they have to investigate it.

Good Luck and hang in there!

Still nothing...not even a word from the senator's office...boooo. If we want to inquire about our case, what would be the best way to do that? Infopass? Will they give us any sort of information, or just tell us we're within normal processing times?

Hmmm. From the look of your timeline (transfer to pending to transfer to pending) maybe there was something weird going on (eg, transferred it out; lost track of it) and you lost processing time while they screwed around sorting it out. Sorry I don't know the answer to your question but it's always worth a try if you have the time and the inclination.

It's weird because they transferred it in April, it took two months to go to pending status and when we went to our Infopass appointment in July about EAD, the IO said AOS was in Texas. :| Then it went back to "transferred and pending at CSC".

Sooo...I guess it's there? We were thinking about going in the beginning of December just to get a better idea of what's going on. We're getting a bit impatient.

I wouldn't wait until December - I would try to Infopass now. Especially seeing as your case sounded mis-directed from early on.

I wanted to give them a little more time just in case, but I think you're right. It doesn't help to ask what's going on, right? There's only one day and time available, so I guess we'll have to go for that.

When making the appointment, do I pick the " Case Services follow-up appointment - If it has been over 45 days since you contacted NCSC and have not received a response to your inquiry. You must bring the Service Request ID Number related to your inquiry to the appointment." option?

We haven't contacted NCSC because I've generally found their helpline to be pretty useless. Will that be okay?

Sorry for all the questions. I really appreciate your support.

Gosh, cellarlily, I would not have had a clue as to advise you on your last question, lol. Glad Kritkit was there. Just keep trying to book an appt. though. I really can't see that you have a better option right now.

Hello!

We finally got an Infopass appointment for next week. I'm not sure how much they'll be able to help, but maybe it will give us some ideas as to how long we have to wait. I'll let you all know how it goes. :)
