Timeline

Hi All. I have been checking in and reading your experiences for several months now but have not registered to post my own experiences. I am sorry I have not shared with you my experiences, but now I have something to share.

My fiancee came from Senegal to the US on a K1 visa and we were married and filed her AOS within the time limit. The receipt date was March 16 2007 at the Chicago Lockbox. Biometrics taken in Philadelphia on April 6th. Case transferred to CSC on the same day - April 6th, 2007. After that no news, no touches, no nothing. In July we moved to San Diego and filed the necessary change of address forms. Come end of August still no news, no touches, USCIS website just shows transfered to CSC April 6th. I decide it was time to take a little action so I schedule an infopass at our local office for September 4. Infopass appointment seems good, the USCIS employee tells us that she is shocked the case has not been transferred to the local office and vows to email CSC and ask for its transfer. She tells us to call the National Customer Service # if nothing happens within two weeks. Of course nothing happens and of course the customer service can do nothing of any value and don't know any more than I already know from the USCIS website... End of October: nothing new, no touches, no news. My third wind of patience is slipping away, and I don't know if there will be a fourth - but I guess there has to be. Okay so here is what I can share with those of you who are still waiting...

I did a search online trying to find any contact numbers or emails or fax numbers for my local office or preferrably the CSC. I found a website for University officials that are the dedicated visa representative for the schools communication with CSC. The top of this webpage said DO NOT GIVE CONTACT INFO OUT TO STUDENTS OR LAWYERS! So I knew I had found something juicy...

I emailed every single email address on that list.:dance: I basically told them my receipt dates, the lack of news since April 6, and the advice of the representative at my Infopass appointment who said I should contact USCIS if I got no news in two weeks. I structured the email to read like the representative had given me the email address and told me to email in two weeks. I also said that I had copies of the entire application and documentation and would be happy to send that in if the application had been lost. Every email that I sent received a reply. And one even said they had forwarded the email to their supervisor and I got an email from the supervisor telling me the application was at CSC and was definitely not lost. And that same day I got a CRIS email saying my wife's application is now pending at CSC (presumably thank you madame supervisor).

Part of me is worried that I just gave myself an extra 180 days until I can ask about my case again, but I think that knowing something is important. Maybe this will work to my advantage, maybe it won't but at least I know something...

If anyone wants these email addresses then post a reply, but I feel it might be like playing with fire to email CSC. So if you make a conscious decision that you desire to take the risk then let me know.

Hello Patience,

It is very hard to sit and wait and wait and wait. I think that few of here will tell you not to be proactive so kudos to you for trying to get some resolution.

You may find that continuing to post your experiences/frustration makes you feel a little less downhearted about things. So don't feel like you have nothing to contribute ... all info helps.

I will add you to our "cheering list".

Good luck.

Any news lately? I know there are people who have waited far longer, but I get so disheartened when looking at the timelines and all these people who applied this summer who have already been approved...grumble.

Also, I'm having a little trouble forking over $305 for AP. I wish we had applied for it from the get-go, but...hindsight = 20/20. We want to go to Jamaica with our friends, but given how much problem we had with getting the EAD in the mail, I'm terrified to let my travel plans rest in the hands of other people.

Are there nice tropical US destinations where my husband wouldn't need AP? I was looking up the US Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Hawaii (though I'm going to be there for work next month and the plane ride is ridiculously long to take twice so soon), and maybe Key West? If you've been to any of these places, can you give me some advice?

No worries! I think we're going to the US Virgin Islands...looks peaceful and he won't need AP which saves a lot of stress (and some $$).

No updates on our end. We're past 120 days since transfer and past 6 months since NOA1. I'm hoping the senator's office gets in touch with us soon with some sort of news.

OH! One fun thing we noticed: my husband's birthdate is incorrect on his EAD card, but we're terrified to send it back after all the problems we had with getting it in the mail in the first place. It's just a day off, but we'll have to make sure his GC isn't wrong when it gets printed (c'mon GC!)

That's absolutely ridiculous, Pumkin! I have no clue about doing another BIO though.... I do know that you will need your NOA from filing your AOS to prove that you have filed. This is what the guide says:

If Filing as a category ©(9), Adjustment Applicant then:

4a. Copy of the receipt notice or other evidence that your Form I-485, Application for Permanent Residence, is pending. If filing at the same time as AOS (in the same package) then you do not need to provide proof of filing (how could you)!

4b. Copy of I-94 (front and back)

4c. A copy of your last EAD (front and back) if any

4d. Two passport-type photo's (see specification)

In regards to the bio... unless someone can give you a more proof positive answer, I'd include a copy of it just to be on the safe side. I wouldn't want to risk a RFE at this late stage.

Good luck!

I have Quick question.

I am in Minnesota. The I-765 appliation should be sent to Chicago lockbox as last time that I-485 has been sent or to USCIS@Nebraska? Might be stupid question but I just want to make sure since I dont really want to screw up with them...

Anyway, wish me luck this time..
