What exactly is that small margin? I've read a couple of articles, one of them on CNN where it said that USCIS was planning on increasing fees by at least 50%, others said 60% and Univision said last year that it could be 80% (which I doubt).

Has anybody seen an official notice from USCIS? It'd be good to have to make sure everyone knows exactly how much fees will be later this year.

I'm sorry. I didn't see the post in the other Forum: Immigration News.

To clarify;

The first fee you need to pay is for I-130 which is $190. The second fee is for I-129F, which is $170. The third fee is Visa fee, which is $100. The last fee is AOS which is $325, and the biometrics fee of $70. That is what that press release implied. The grand total came out to be about $855 filing fees from K-3 to LPR status.

You need to add the $180 for EAD. Other people (not all) need to apply for Advance Parole to leave the US for any emergency they may have which is another $180, but this one is optional.

I know the I485 with AP and EAD (included in the price) is going up to about 900. Not sure what I130 will be.

LOL. Show me how you added. It's not doubling. Where the hell is the article that says it's doubling? Either I'm incompetent in English or I'm missing something because I see no where on the articles I've seen that costs are doubling. Please, show me how you added the numbers.

Alright, calm down... I'm not defying you in the least. :D I'm actually asking anybody if they know the exact amount. I didn't double the fees, I just said that I read they were going up between 50-60%. Now this is just especulation from everybody, including yourself since nobody seems to know the right amounts.

What I'm asking is, if anybody knows the right amount, then they should post it so nobody is guessing on how much they will be. That way everybody can make clear decisions on how or what to file. That's all.

I'm not sure how official this is but here is an idea: http://www.murthy.com/news/n_prosig.html

AOS applications will go from $325 to $905 that's more than 50% and doesn't include biometrics. :o

DAAANG! I was reading the responses to the Washington Post Article. Holy #######!! there is a lot of racist drivel. Most of the responses were "We don't want any more of them Injuns over here" A frightening number of "Good. We don't want illegal immigration" responses, too.

How many people realize that the crim rate among immigrants - legal or not, is ONE FIFTH BELOW the crime rate for US born people? The very drive to succeed that drives someone to emmigrate to somewhere they can have a better life is THE VERY SAME THING that drives our economy - that drive and ambition makes America stronger than any else - including high military spending!

Thanks, BushCo, for some more enlightened policy!

Good for you! I'm in college, acting basically as a single parent right now. When my wife gets here, SHE'LL be in school too. The money isn't a killer, but it IS silly! It is now cheaper to fly back to Thailand to adjusts status.

its resulting in a much harder process, more expensive for everyone.

These fee changes are proposed only. A lot of Democrats are pushing back against approving them because they are afraid they'll be seen as oppressing the immigrants.

What has changed is the policy of continued processing of CR1 cases when K3 petitions have been filed. You'll have to pay the $200 I-824 fee just to keep your CR1 moving or it won't even go to NVC. I would hold on any decisions until you have NOA2 in hand for both petitions, then make your best judgment at that time.
