Hello! The guide doesn't explain this thoroughly. Please explain exactly which documents I should have my foreign spouse gather in lieu of the NOA2 which should be coming soon, God willing. Exactly which documents should I gather myself? Thanks in advance guys...

K-3 Visa

07/22/2006 - Applied for K1 - I-129F mailed to Vermont Service Center, VSC

08/02/2006 - Package got sent back requesting a different form (different revision). Proceeded to weep like a girl. Decided against fiance visa with newfound setback. Will wait for December wedding.

12/24/2006 - Marriage

02/05/2007 - I-130 sent to VSC and confirmed receipt following day.

02/13/2007 - I-130 NOA1 received

02/15/2007 - K-3 sent to Chicago and confirmed receipt following day.

02/26/2007 - K-3 NOA1

03/02/2007 - I-129F (K-3) sent to Vermont Service Center (from Missouri Service Center)

03/11/2007 - Received email notice: I-129F in VSC is now pending (whatever the heck that means)

04/05/2007 - I-130 and K-3 APPROVED! (email notice) (rec'd postal mail 04/13)

04/09/2007 - NVC received case (called 603 334 0700)

04/11/2007 - Shipped to Chennai.

05/17/2007 - Received confirmation of receiving package via postal mail in India with interview date! (took 36 days!)

06/15/2007 - Interview! VISA APPROVED!!

06/29/2007 - She's in my arms...

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

A checklist of items needed in preparation for interview as well as the medical will be mailed to you wife shortly, or if you're the choice of agent, you will be receiving those paperwork.

djveed,

Nothing is needed in place of the NOA2.

Okay. I'm retarded.

I realized I didn't use the words IN LIEU correctly. In lieu means - to replace.

What I meant was - considering the fact that God willing I'm getting an NOA2 soon, what should I tell my wife (foreign spouse) to begin to gather so that we can quickly move on to the next step?

What are the next steps (specificall and in plain English)?

I'll use grammar check next time too.

djveed,

Find OF-167 or DS-2000 - same document, old and new designations. Consulates differ as to some of the details, so look first on your consulate's web site, but if you can't find the consulate-specific one you want then a generic one will give you a good idea.

There's also the VJ Guides and Visa FAQ.

You can also ask around on VJ who has recent copies for packets 3 & 4 from your embassy and they can e-mail them to you. The Colombia club has been doing this for a while and members can have their spouses/fiaces ready before the embassy recieves anything from NVC.
