I'm been looking for an outlet to ask questions and get some feedback as trying to communicate through the actual is useless.

My situation: I am a New Zealander and met my American husband when he came over back in 2007...fast forward, long romance, alot of airport good byes and alot of skype sessions we FINALLY got married here in New Zealand in my home town in 2012. It was an absolute dream to have him with me finally.

The plan was to stay and live NZ. The immigration process for him has been straight forward, simplistic, everyone has been super helpful (especially when you call immigration NZ...thats how we roll here) and he is now resident, becoming a permanent one as of next yr.

8 months into our marriage we fell pregnant with baby no 1....two years later have baby no two.

For anyone who lives in NZ you will know the COST to live and the possibility of moving forward financially on one income is very difficult. We have hit a brick and reside in the major city of Auckland, because although house prices are though the roof, income is higher than anywhere else in NZ. Can I get an Amen!?

So we have finally decided to take the plunge and apply for a visa for me and the boys (I will first apply for birth abroad for them to enable them to have American passports so they're not the issue here) and for the few days I have been doing my research on the I-130 Petition and what I need but still have a few questions.....

Has anyone particularity from NZ gone through this process?

How has it been?

What time have you waited and is there any tips I need to get this right the first time!?

We are in no rush to move but I prefer to do everything right the first time and avoid complications.

Thanks everyone!

You'll need to establish domicile at some point. Can you use your husband's parent(s) house for this purpose?

Also, K3 is dead in the water really. You'll want to file for IR-1, meaning you'll get the 10 year green card off the bat once you get approved.

If you get this moved to the correct forum, you might get better answers as well. You posted in the K1 fiance visa forum.

Also, have you checked in the regional forum?

It seems you have a pretty straight forward and easy case. Many US citizens live abroad then move their families over when they're ready... good luck to you guys!
