NOA1 received, but my address is wrong!

ahhh i've been on the phone, calling long distance from taiwan and keep getting cut off.

i received my NOA1 in the mail (yay!), however the address they typed for me was missing my apartment number. so the mail man ended up just sticking it on the board across from the mailboxes, but i'm not sure i want to risk the NOA2 arriving like that. i could not change my address online as it requires a zip code. however, since i'm applying from taiwan, i don't have a stateside zip that was used (though on the i-130, when it asked for where i the petitioner (me) will stay, i wrote my home address, but it did not ask for a zip on the form).

so i can't correct my address online at the uscis.gov website. i rang them at the customer service center, and both people i talked to were kind, but said that because i don't have a stateside zip, they had to transfer me to a higher up agent to help me. well, the wait time was over 25 minutes, and it kept telling me to enter my "callback" number so i don't have to stay on the line. well, the "callback" numbers only allow US numbers, and i'm calling from taiwan. it automated hold system eventually hung up on me.

any ideas what to do? and just fyi - both people i talked to at the USCIS office told me that it was a typo on the Nebraska center's part (since my i-130 listed an address that included an apartment number, which they didn't put on the NOA1).

not sure what to do now. :( any advice?

i have called the USCIS office 4 times already, spoken to 4 different people. the first 3 have said that they will transfer me to some tier 2 service request line; the wait time was over 20 minutes, but does not allow you to stay on the line. since i'm calling from overseas, i cannot enter a "callback number" and therefore i get hung up on. this last gentleman i spoke with, when i told him about the current situation, told me that there is no point in transferring me to that tier 2 line, as it doesn't take international numbers...even though the previous 3 successfully did it; just that the wait was too long and it hung up on me.

i have wasted so much money being put on hold on an international line. the frustrating thing is that the typographical error is not even mine; it was the nebraska service center's mistake!! the last officer i spoke with told me that the only thing i can do is to contact the embassy nearest me (which would be AIT here in taiwan) and have them correct it. but since i have not even received the NOA2 yet, would AIT even have my file yet?) this is so confusing.

anyone have any wisdom they can shed or advice??? i'm afraid if i don't get my apartment number added onto the address, i may not be so lucky and actually stumble across the NOA2 in the apartment building's mail pile. :(

I agree with Ryan. Plus even if you managed to get through to a tier 2, they won't change your address overseas.

thanks ryan. have set up an acct as suggested. so if i never receive the NOA2, it doesn't make a difference? is there information on there that i would possibly need? and i was also worried that if they mail any other stuff to me, it might get lost. is there nothing else in the rest of the visa process that they will be mailing? (as in, other paperwork)

okay thanks NLR. hmm, i wonder why all three even bothered transferring me to tier 2, then. sigh.

Based on advice above this may no longer apply.

But just to point out that you can subscribe to Skype and have a world phone number which you can select.

I've lived abroad for several years but basically kept a USA 'local' number with Skype.

I think you can subscribe for a month, and you can pick the state/area code and number and you can use that for someone to call you back. If you have the skype app on your smart phone the call will come through just like a normal call would as long as you have an active data connection e.g. 3g/4g/wifi
