Removal proceedings case

Hi All. My husband's 601a waiver was denied because he is in removal proceedings, and should not have applied to it from the beginning. We have been waiting a response for a long time, and we got it about 2 weeks ago. We applied on May 2015, so it took an year to learn the reason for which they did not approve it. The lawyer basically messed it up...very frustrating and upsetting. Now we need to administratively close the removal proceedings, then applied again. Has anyone been through this, and how long does it take to close the proceedings? Thanks much!

I have seen it done but obviously depends on the individual circumstances.
