Hello everyone. Me and my wife (she's a US Citizen, and I'm from the Netherlands) filed for AOS. We had the biometrics appointment last week.

But today we got a letter from the USCIS that our papers are on hold because we don't meet the 125% of the poverty guidelines.

My wife's father is supporting me but for a household of 5 you need about $35k a year and her dad makes about $10k less than that.

What are we supposed to do? Can we even do something?

Use somebody whose income does meet the requirements.

The Sponsor remains the same, you need a replacement joint sponsor.

Do we need to re do everything with the I-864 or just submit a new one with the new co-sponsor? Do we just have another relative provide their information and tax documents that will reach the limit and send it in and it be okay?

Because my wife's stepbrother is willing to fill out an i864 and he meets the requirements, are siblings able to be supporters or is it for household members only? Is all we have to do is fill out the right forms and send it in?

Any USC or LPR, age 18+, with residence in the US or its territories can be a joint sponsor. They provide their own separate I-864 plus supporting documents, and their income must meet the requirement for their own household size plus the intending immigrant.

If a primary or joint sponsor wants to use a qualified household member to combine their income with that of the person filing the I-864, then the qualifying household member would supply an I-864A. See the instructions for both forms on how that works/requirements.
