Sorry about the increase in rent, but you're going to have to add your fiancee/wife to your apartment lease. It's a big thing for your AOS.

My wife and I had no problem meeting neighbors in our apartment complex. We have some good friendships as a result. Others might be more introverted and appreciate their privacy more.

Not hugely important for aos but definitely for roc eventually

We not married yet, but trying to prepare.... something on my mind that I wanted to inquire about. Will reply to most, and using this info will find a way to accomplish what I need to. We may delay it until we move then. Might be safest bet. She is going to be in this country forever, why rush?

Transborderwife, I am against privacy invasions. If the USCIS wants to vist me directly, fine. They disturb neighbors who do not know me (all of them), they will have police called on me, blaming me for disturbing their peace. USCIS disturbs main office people, they will bump rent $150-200.

Maria&Seve, I am the petitioner who values keep peace among people I have to unfortunately share a building with.

Bostorican, then people will call the cops and that will look bad for my fiancee who is getting the green card.

pch1, how do get the USCIS only to bother me, no one else! That is my goal. I do not live in the woods anymore, but a complex of people who hate being disturbed regarding people they do not know.

KayDeeCee, so during the green card process, they may not? As for rent, oh yes, because we got no place else to go. So, yes, until we move, got to be quiet about it or we will be on the streets before finding a new place.

Ebunoluwa, they not touching my closets, especially if they want to have their shoes on (no shoes in this place). Her name can not be on a lease until we move, to protect what little money is left. Bank account, sure, but got nothing else to add her name on. Yes, disturbing neighbors and having cops called on me is a major issue here.

Amy_and_Victor, adding her name to utility bills sounds ridiculous. We will find something else to do with that. I can put someone's sister on the bills, and that can show she lives her too.

Lemonslice, my own name is not even on the mailbox. No one needs to know where I live, for security sake.

Ortolan, being anti-hating government.... big red flag.

Russ&Caro, when we move, sure. Now, no because the rent increase will be more than I can afford. As for meeting people.... why? I do not want to have people know me. If she wants to meet people, she is a free person and she can.

IcezMan_IcezLady, mhm, but money not allow me to do anything more. Money should not stop love, but businesses try.

I appreciate all the comments. Thank you so much!!!

You seem to be paranoid about the USCIS coming to your place ? Why ? 99.9% chance they won't.
If you don't listen to people's advice here about co mingled evidence then you will have a tough road to go.
Adding her name on utility bills as was suggested is not ridiculous but standard practice if you want to have good evidence
and be approved, you have very little, if any evidence at all and if you don't prepare now you will cry later.
Your obsession with a house visit and the neighbors and police is what is ridiculous.
You not wanting people to know you sounds a bit ...pardon me...creepy and I hope your future wife will not feel isolated during her adjustment.
Many do while waiting for the work permit !
Hoping you will receive every mail send to you by USCIS during the process without your name on the mailbox but since you don't want to play
the game by their rules you will likely encounter problems and will be back here asking how to fix it. Guaranteed. Prevention is the better
than trying to get by and having to figure out how to resolve an issue in a short amount of time.
People have been here for years and know the flow, to listen would be wise.

Good luck.

How will you afford the tax penalty if you do not purchase her health insurance?

If you are in such dire situation that an increase in rent will cause that much of a problem, my suggestion is to sort that financial situation out first before even attempting getting her over here.

If his income is under the threshold, he will get an exemption from the fine.

It's too late to sort anything out, she is already here.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

As I understand, there may be a chance when the time comes for the AOS and/or green card for fiancee, the USCIS will come to interview your neighbors, etc. Problem is, no one knows me (literally) in this apartment complex filled with other humans, nor am I going to let people. I make sure, with certain methods, no one knows who I am, what I drive, which apartment I live in. Main office not know I have someone living with me because it will bump rent up so much, we will be on the streets shortly thereafter. So, people here will complain and call the police because it is my fault, the fault of someone no one knows, to have people knocking on their doors, disturbing the peace and privacy of other people, asking questions about me who know one knows. Then if they intrude to the main office, they will bump rent (and them already doing their annual increasing it in Sept. is deadly enough).

Finding another safe, cheap please to rent is going to be near impossible, because doing so is how I ended up in this place (single) when I needed to move out of my other place.

Living any place else is not a financial option at this moment, staying here neither is if they keep raising my rent. This place is not worth the cost now, let alone when they find another human lives here. Once strangers' privacy is bothered, yes, here they will call police on me disrupting their privacy.

Anyone else experience any of this? What did you do? How you prevent such issues of the peace being disturbed?

Looking for how people handled their situations.

Thanks.

You need to sort out your financial problems so you can afford doing AOS. Put her on the lease and mailbox so you have proof of co-mingling and to make sure that all the papers from USCIS arrives because if her name is not on there it's a pretty big chance USPS won't deliver anything. How are you going to explain the long time you were living together with no proof of her being there? Put her on bills, bank accounts etc.

So are you preventing her interacting with the neighbors? I hope not because that would be controlling what she's doing and that's not okay.

No, he addressed this above:

As for meeting people.... why? I do not want to have people know me. If she wants to meet people, she is a free person and she can.

As confusing as the OP's initial post was, I sort of understand his situation now with his latest reply.

My suggestion is to get over whatever obsession with "privacy" you have an accept the realities that come along with bringing someone into the US.

Realities such as:

-the slim but still possible chance that someone may perform a home visit and wish to enter your living space.

-the impending financial obligations you have thrust upon yourself, including a possible rent increase.

-the changes and culture shock your fiance/wife is most likely going to go through and how having a solid network of people in the U.S. to turn to will be beneficial for her happiness

And a whole lot more.
