Priebus On Trump’s Taxes: ‘The Traditional Playbook’ Doesn’t Apply [VIDEO]

Republican National Committee chair Reince Priebus argued that the “traditional playbook” of releasing tax returns does not apply to Donald Trump because “he’s rewritten the playbook.”

Appearing on ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday, Priebus said, “People look at Donald Trump and say, ‘Is this person going to cause an earthquake in Washington, D.C., and make something happen?’ That is it. That’s how he’s been judged by the American people.”

Guest host Jonathan Karl asked Priebus, “Your presidential nominee from four years ago is calling on Trump to release his taxes. Saying, quote, ‘It is disqualifying for a modern day presidential nominee to refuse to release tax returns to the voters. There is only one logical explanation for Mr. Trump’s refusal to release his returns: there’s a bombshell in them.’ So let me ask you, do you agree with Mitt Romney on this, or do you agree Donald Trump, who said ‘it’s none of our business?'”

“I believe the American people look at someone like Donald Trump and say, ‘Okay, here’s a guy on the outside. Here’s a guy that’s never run for office.’ And I just have to tell you, after a year of dealing with this primary… I don’t think the traditional playbook applies,” Priebus said. “We’ve have been down this road for a year. And, it doesn’t apply. He’s rewritten the playbook.”

He said his taxes weren't anyone's business. I'm sure that's going to be turned into a positive thing somehow. Even from a support group that cares deeply about equal tax contributions from all Americans. But we're down the stretch now so we get to watch republicans act like trump is a legitimate candidate. Maybe a picture of him riding a bear shirtless will wrap this all up for him.
