Filing IR1/CR1 without many photographs....plus a question about I 864

I'm wondering if it is going to be a problem with us filing to bring my husband to the States as after our wedding, we have hardly any pictures of us together. We live together in his country and have since the marriage, a year tomorrow. I have lots of pictures of him with my daughter (not his bio child) in which I'm the one who took the pic but I'm simply not a person who likes to be in photos so we don't have many, if any, after the wedding. Will this be a problem?

I also am wondering about the affidavit of support. I am on a fixed income and can't meet the financials to sponsor my husband so we have found someone who is willing to be the joint sponsor. Will we need a copy of her affidavit and/or tax records to take to the interview should we get that far or will the one that she sends in be enough?

Thank you for your time and knowledge, Jessica.

They do love to see pictures of you together and with each other's families but if you don't have that, focus on other evidence like you living together. I would start taking more pictures though, between now and the interview.

You need your I-864 and financial attachments for the NVC stage and then that gets forwarded to the embassy for your interview.

For the affidavit of support, you and your joint sponsor need to fill in separate i-864s. You shall then submit both i864s along with tax records (transcripts) from both of you to NVC.

Keep copies of everything, Jessica. Before you send in stuff, copy it. Might save you some headache later.

I will have some pictures of us taken together but I'm not sure that it will carry the same weight that most/all of our pictures were taken after we applied. As far as with his family, I have two pictures, other than wedding, one with sister and one with mother and sister and those will have to do because we've had a HUGE falling out and no longer speak :(

We sent like 4 pictures. Pictures are not primary evidence unless they're showing time you've spent together.

I've never met my MIL or BIL and I've been married for almost 4 years. Is what it is.

I don't even have a MIL or FIL. They are both dead. My husband's brother has been in and out of prison most of his adult life and is an addict. Never met him and no real desire to either. The rest of my husband's family live several states away. We don't see them much. Most of our photos are of just us.

Send whatever you can to show an ongoing relationship.

You don't need to send a lot of pictures, that's just one type of evidence. You can even send some pics of him and your daughter with annotations so they know what it is. It does suggest a close relationship. I never sent any pics at all, not even if our wedding and I got approved. ( I know I may have been quite lucky). Just send what you do have every case is different. All the best.

Not exactly the same process you are going through, but my wife just had her interview for an IR-1 visa. We've been together for a few years. We did not include a single photo in our documentation. We did provide proof of shared bank account with activity, letter from owner of our apartment saying we had rented from them for years. Of course, we are doing a consular visa since we live outside the USA. Took us about 2 months to get her visa from the filing of the I-130 to approval at her interview. Add a couple weeks for the passport to arrive with her visa in it.

Bottom line, if have some photos, use them, but add other documentation - rental agreements, bank accounts, and the mandatory wedding certificates, and so forth.

Thank you everyone for your advice. We will try to get another picture or two before sending in the application and I will send what we do have and not worry too much about it. Maybe we will have a few more by interview time too. I mostly worry because we don't have our names on many things jointly. We own no car, I am on Medicare and he has no insurance so nothing there, I'm unable to add him to my American banks accounts as he is not in the country to show ID, etc. I did add him as an authorized user on my credit cards so I have his name on my statements and we do have a Tunisian bank account together but the "proof" they can give us of this account is a withdrawal receipt that has both our names on it and a stamp from the bank lol. My name is not even on the lease so hopefully the owner is willing to sign something saying I do live here with my husband. My name is on his birth certificate as his wife and we have our marriage papers and our son's birth certificate. I'm a little worried that it won't be enough, mostly because this is my second time with immigration. My ex-husband received and green card and citizenship through me, that marriage lasted not quite five years although I never lived in his country with him, we met when he was in America on a student visa. I'm a little paranoid that they are going to think something bad about me, but hopefully we won't have any problems.
