LPR parents files I-130 petition for UNMARRIED child. The child must stay unmarried until the child gets a green card. An LPR can never have a petition for a married child. Marriage during the wait voids the petition.

LPR petitioning for an unmarried child over age 21 would be an F2b case where the current wait in the PI is 11 years.

Why does any of US petition processing takes a long time unlike in any countries that take months?

the only thing that can take months is the approval of the first form, the i130, but after that all children over 21 or sibling petitions take years until the priority date becomes current and there is a visa available, for the second part of the process it takes years of waiting

Countries that take months, likely aren't for permanent residence, or they're not 1st world countries. Canada certainly doesn't take a few months.

Overall, There are millions of petitions that need to be processed. It just takes a while to go through them all.

As for adult siblings and children, it is because an adult visa is not treated with the same urgency as an underage child that needs to be reunited with their parents. Or a loving husband or wife. Those are first priority.

An adult can have a life of his or her own. Get a job and support themselves. Buy a house, travel, start a business, get married, etc. etc.

The USCIS takes care of the minor children and husbands and wives first. Others are left to wait a little while longer.
