Thank you everybody for suggestions.

I have decided not to make any claims for my husbands property. I dont want to deal with these two people who are giving me so much problem.

What would be the best way for me to come out of all this? I dont want to be held legally liable for anything related to all this, such as hubsand car being towed away and i will be asked to pay fine, if there is some bills, that i dont know, which is not settled by him will i be held liable to pay for it?

In this case do i still need lawyer? I am in new york city. If anyone from Nyc here knows any lawyer who doesnt charge lot of money please tell me.And also what type of lawyer i need in my case? Thank you.

Your husband married you--- he would want you to get something. As said before, talk to a lawyer, if they think there is some money to be had they will work out a deal. Don't talk to to others anymore, just say you are talking to a lawyer, nothing more. Getting on with your life will be a little easier with a few coins in your pocket.

You don't need to deal with them. Get a lawyer, and all their contact will need to be from their lawyer to your lawyer. You can let your lawyer handle everything.

I'm a bit confused about the car situation. Is this a car in your husband's name that the ex-girlfriend has? Is it in both of their names? Anything your husband owned is now owned by you if he had no children. This is the law of your state. They can argue with lawyers and yell at you all they want, it will not change the law. You need to get a lawyer, your lawyer needs to send a cease a desist letter to the ex-gf and sister in law, telling them all contact is now through your lawyer. You will no longer have any headaches with those two, and you'll get the assets of his estate as you are entitled to. If you then wish to decide some type of share can go to the other two, it is within your rights as you now own the property.

This comment is not intended to make the OP feel bad, but: The cruelest thing that any spouse or relative could do is to die without a will. Folks, if you don't have wills, get them drawn up as a high priority.

Did you will your Pontiac to the kid?

This is the right site.

Otherwise, get an attorney, you needn't pay anything upfront.

They'll charge out of your inheritance. Believe me, they'll help you.

You said your husband and his sis owns a house together, before you were married?

There are several different types of joint ownership in NYS.

One of them gives the property to the surviving owner.

(Joint tenants with right of survivorship)

Google "NYC Estate and Probate Attorney"

Start calling those numbers. Do it.

Best of luck.

SAT us in NYC, listen to his advice. CaryH has good advice too
