Im the foreign fiance of the US Citizen. I live in the UK.

I lived in Canada for a year on a student work visa, and changed my visa to stay as a tourist for a further couple of months.

I am currently waiting on a criminal record check from the Canadian police. This is taking a while. I have all the other documents ready so I could book my interview /medical in London as soon as I get this form.

question 1 Do you think I need the certificate ? I was resident there for 12 months, then for 2 as a tourist ? is it only needed if I was resident for over 12 months ? how strict are they on this kind of thing ?

question 2... how long after I tell the us embassy that I have all the things on the checklist will I have to wait for an interview ? how quickly can you book a medical ?

Question 1 is YES you will need the police certificate from Canada, as well as one from the UK http://london.usembassy.gov/cons_new/visa/iv/ds2001.html#pc

Question 2 The timelines are your friends, use advanced view, filter for UK, then check the times from packet 3 sent to interview. http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/

The timelines are a very useful resource, why not help everyone else by doing your timeline?

Also please update your profile, you are obviously filing for a visa, N/A is not a visa type. Filed for what? Country helps others too so put UK in foreign country.

IF you are the fiance, and your USC is also a member, link your timeline to his by putting his VisaJourney ID # in the proper spot on the edit page. (Towards the bottom of the edit timeline form.) Then when people check your timeline his will pop up and assuming he is keeping his up to date, everyone will be happy and no stats will be skewed.

Otherwise it looks like you got great research advice from YuAnDan!

I don't know if it helps- but I was able to navigate the Ankara Embassy and see all of the appointments for all kinds of Visas- they post the times and date on a spreadsheet. I can see that already they are into May. That could be by request of the petitioner, or just how backed logged the scheduling is.

I wish you the best of luck.
