According to your timeline it appears that you only have a conditional GC. When my husband went to sign up for the air force, the recruiter refused because his greencard was only valid for 1 year and 11 more months. You have to have legal status beyond your enlistment period (2 years minimum). He wanted to join any branch so we checked the rest and found the same thing on their website. So you've got at least 2 more years to study for the Navy test. What's your plan b?

Best thing to do is go to a recruiting office. If you have special language, cultural, or skill codes, someone can find a way. Or better yet, become a contractor to the US armed forces if you have either of the above. I knew a guy who was from born in Ghana, but raised in Togo become a french teacher for the AF and he wasn't even a citizen. My mind was blown. He was a contractor.

The US military hires a lot of contractors. When my husband was deployed to Iraq, he watched over contractors doing what he did for a job back home. But you don't get the perks from being military and you certainly do not get your citizenship faster.

The Navy recruiter I'm in contact with told me I can join until my 2 year greencard expires, as long as it had 2 years on it... I asked it because I am worried about being physically fit..

But I am still going to join straight away since I am tired of waiting... So I wont be able to let anyone know...

Websites say a lot, you learn more when you ask questions, thats what recruiters are for...

Airforce is the only branch not taking conditional greencards

Btw keep in mind that the jobs for non-citizens are limited
