Very unlikely. The owner of the grocery store would have to demonstrate that there are no US citizens that could do the job. Since working in a store is relatively low-skilled work then this would be impossible to demonstrate. There are plenty of unemployed Americans that could work in a grocery store.

ditto

it is an expensive process and the employer has to prove that nobody could do the job

there are dozens of people he could hire that would do that job

Thanks for clarification . Another question plz if the applicant apply for any type of work visa while waiting the green card wish takes years to be approved , will that rejection affect green card process ?

Employers apply for work visas. Individuals can not apply for them directly.

Rejected visas will not affect getting an immigration visa as long as the applicant does not lie. Lying will affect the immigrant visa.

Unless you have a university degree, there is zero chance that an employer will pay to bring you over on a work visa. What is your highest level of education?

Do not Aldi own Trader Joe's?

I am sure they brought people over.

Tesco also trued the US market, but that failed.

Kinda-sorta. Aldi used to be a single company run by two brothers, but was split into two companies decades ago after a disagreement about (of all things) selling cigarettes. Aldi Nord operates as Aldi, Aldi Sud runs Trader Joe's.

But that's beside the point. They almost certainly brought people over when establishing both chains in the US, but those people would have been regional managers and suchlike, not cashiers and shelf-stackers. The most likely route for that would be the L-1 visa, which as I'm sure you know, requires that the applicant have worked for the related foreign employer for at least one continuous year in a managerial, executive or specialized knowledge capacity.

It sounds like the OP is asking about whether the owner of a mom-and-pop store can sponsor work visas for store employees, not whether an international corporation can bring managers over when they're entering the US market.

Eighteen years in the US and I still don't understand Velveeta, TV ads for prescription drugs, only getting 2 weeks paid vacation, or why anyone believes anything they see on Fox "News".

Don't delete it. Ok, so you didn't get the answer you were hoping for but the question is perfectly valid and the answers provided are good reference for someone browsing who has the same question.

You are not the first person to ask this sort of question (substitute grocery store for restaurant, hotel, etc and you will find similar threads). And you are not the first to think that individuals can apply for work visas like employment permits that enable them to go to the USA to look for any sort of work (similar to the Australia working holiday visas that allow youngsters to go and look for seasonal work without a fixed offer of employment in place).

For these reasons the thread should stay.
