Hello everyone,

I got married yesterday in the court and they gave me a copy of married license. My first name on I-94 and SSN card are a middle name on my passport. PLUS: When I and my husband went to SSN office to do my SSN card, I tried to explain to them that my name on I-94 is incorrect but they still follow form I-94 to do SSN card so both of them are incorrect but luckily the court followed my visa to do my marriage license so only my marriage license is correct. I want to ask that anyone here knows how to fix my name on I-94 and SSN card in Washington state? When can I change my married name? And I'm going to apply Adjustment Of Status. Should I change my name before apply Adjustment Of Status or after then? How to prepare my Adjustment Of Status package? What documents do I need for an Adjustment Of Status?

Thank you and have a good day.

My husbands name in the USCIS system was put in as his first and middle name are his first name. The lady said we shouldn't have any problems and we can essentially change it when we apply for the green card. When we did biometrics today, his first and middle name where in the correct place, so it seems everything is fixed that way. The SSA lady told us once we have his EAD or Green card, to go in to the SSA office and show it to them so they can change it in the system so it matches up.

My husbands I-94 was also wrong, we went to a deffered inspection station and had it changed, BUT we changed it before we did his SSN. They spelled his last name wrong on his I-94.

The custom put my middle name on passport is my first name on I-94 and my SSN card. what it mean is my first name is incorrect. Do you think can I apply for the green card while my first name is incorrect? did they ask your husband's SSN card on AOS paperwork?

To be safe, go back and explain to them more time about the change and show the what you mean. You can proceed from there.

You can get your I-94 fixed at a CBP "Deferred Inspection Site." Google that and find the nearest one to you. Good luck.

Go to cbp.gov and search deferred inspection. Then go to the closest deferred inspection station and ask them to fix your I-94. Deal with SSN afterwards.

File your AOS in the (married) name as listed on your marriage certificate.
