New Orleans mayor suggests there is a conspiracy afoot to keep blacks out of New Orleans

New Orleans Mayor C. Ray Nagin has suggested that the slow recovery and rebuilding of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina -- which has prevented many black former residents from returning -- is part of a plan to change the racial makeup and political leadership of his and other cities.

"Ladies and gentlemen, what happened in New Orleans could happen anywhere," Nagin said at a dinner sponsored by the National Newspaper Publishers Association, a trade group for newspapers that target black readers. "They are studying this model of natural disasters, dispersing the community and changing the electoral process in that community."

I wonder is what got in the way is called jobs, lower murder rates, and opportunity. If I'd lived in a city with the huge problems that were going on in New Orleans before Katrina, and was given an opportunity for a better life, I wouldn't be running back.

If it's going to be, it's up to me!

Lots of the Katrina evacuaees (??) that were poor don't want to go back . . . many stayed in Texas (and beyond). Once they found that there are better things in life than N.O. , I think they decided to take advantage of the move. Don't get me wrong . . . I like N.O. for what it is history-wise, etc . . . but, let's face it, it was not a good place for many ppl . . . lack of jobs, opportunities, crime rate, etc. But strangely, many of the ppl being brought in to help re-build are not the former residents!! Some of the ppl are going back, but it is very hard if you came from the poorer parts of N.O. because those ppl probably aren't getting as much help as those with insurance and jobs!

I've heard the crime rate is very bad right now . . . so why would anyone want to move back??? Oh, other than it has been home for so many years!

The so-called high crime rate is just a media creation to keep black people away. In reality, NO is now a utopia where country-club-whiteys roam around in bliss, reading the Wall Street Journal over a game of golf while their obedient and blissfully unemployed (and amazingly perky) white wives meet up to chat about the latest fashions over a cup at Starbucks.

I am sure that like many others with similar views and intelligence, he does not seem to have a problem using the white folks money (aka tax dollars) to pay for his negligence. Negligence which led to the scale of this disaster in the first place..

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

He's a nut.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt
