Hi All,

I apologize if this has been asked before, but, if we have IRS tax transcripts from the last 3 years, and have just completed my wife ROC within the last few months, do we need submit any additional evidence for citizenship?

My wife has been in the US since Aug of 2011, we were married in Sept of 2011, and completed the ROC so have 10 year GCs as of Feb of this year.

I have seen some threads that suggest other evidence is needed - bills, bank accounts, etc., while the guide says, "OR" 3 year tax transcripts.

We don't mind sending additional information but it seems redundant given that we just submitted all of the for her ROC.

You have to provide supporting documents assuming that whoever reviews your file has no knowledge of your past documents. They will make decision based on what they have in front of them (which is what you submit), they are not doing to dig into their system to look for your old files. The new N-400 instruction or the checklist clearly states what to provide. It's always better to provide more than what's asked for.

I would follow the checklist in the link above to the letter. It is very specific and I see absolutely no reason to send more than what is specifically asked for. We have already sent utility bills, checking account statements etc. We wouldn't have gotten this far if that information had not been satisfactory. You will find plenty of well-meaning folks in these forums that advocate and indeed comment as to how many "pounds" of evidence they sent. This is ridiculous. Send what they ask for nothing more nothing less. I have followed this philosophy since K1 and have never had an RFE, interview or any problems at all.

You are exactly right, technically just the tax transcripts should suffice because of the "OR" statement. I was going to do exactly the same thing in my application but performed a search and saw a lot of people sent more evidences on top of the transcripts. In the end, I didn't send a 2nd I-751 package but gathered a mini ROC package covering the last 3 years that included the birth certificate of our daughter, bank statements, home lease contracts prior to buying our house and the mortgage contract for our current house, joint auto/home insurance policies. I didn't send photos, affidavits, utility bills, travel itineraries like I did in my ROC package.

FYI, I recently saw in one of the monthly threads someone just applied with tax transcripts and after the interview he was issued an RFE. So take your time and collect more evidence in your package. I applied with the old version of the N400 application form, and only sent in three transcripts. I have my interview next Monday, so far so good. I'm not expecting any hitches.

In fact, they do check your whole A-file (everything you ever sent them).

This is true. During my interview, I could see that the file that the officer was referring to had everything I ever sent them

Thanks for the relies. I think we will err on the side of caution and send the same evidence as we sent to ROC. Seems redundant, but what heck, specially if it makes the process easier.

That is exactly what we did. We wanted to do it once and do it right so we figured providing everything again couldn't hurt. We had an additional tax transcript that my wife brought to the interview. Good luck!

Based on marriage....already submitted n400,pp photos, cheque, my birth cert, copy of green card......

3 yrs tax transcripts

birth certs (both)

marriage cert

I also have proof of our mortgage as well as our car insurance policy together.

No need to include the kitchen sink.

I can see why people are resubmitting ROC documents since its taking a year or more to adjudicate ROC
