An interesting "why" question...

 Share

Why on earth is somebody who lives on the East Coast of the USA, North Carolina to be exact, required to send their paperwork to Texas, which then forwards application to California, wasting one week of time, and which is known to take an inordinate amount of time to approve applications. Vermont is a heck of a lot closer to NC than even Texas (I think), not to mention much quicker than CA. Why California, and why couldn't I just have bypassed Texas altogether since they don't process the stuff there anyway? That would have made me a February filer if it had been straight next-day aired to CA...now I'm thrown in with March 6th crowd (no offense to other March 6thers). OK, I feel better now.

I totally agree. I was just thinking of this same thing yesterday. I live in TN and mine went to TSC and onto CSC. I can see a week or two difference in processing times between VSC and CSC, but two and one-half months difference is ridiculous! All I can say is that is the US goverment in true form! I really envy the people who file with VSC. They are getting their interview by the time we are getting our NOA2. But, never-the-less I am happy for them and wish them the best.

I don't know if I'm "jealous" of the Vermont folks, but if the USCIS wants to make it "fair" that applications are processed/approved in the order received, you would think there wouldn't be a huge disparity between processing times at the CSC versus the VSC. 2.5 to 3 months versus 2 weeks for a couple of recent posters who filed at VSC. Ridiculous!

Grass is always greener. I'm a VT filer and I was ridiculously jealous of people who got their approvals in 3 days. There are other VT filers who had to wait a month and a half, and nobody can figure out why. It's such a weird system. Ah, the US government. And don't even get me started on the IRS . . .

You are dealing with the USCIS. There is no rhyme or reason for anything it seems. I'm in Georgia and I had to send ours to Texas who in turn sent it to California. Look at this way....at least it gets sent somewhere and processed. It will get done and your beloved will be with you, this is only temporary thing. :)

If I were to hazard a guess. I think VSC has probably got completely old out of date facilities. They only handle the North East cause they probably can't take on more workload. They are faster in many cases, but you take them out of the standard case, like a case with an IMBRA Waiver and they fall flat on their faces.

I TOTALLY understand the anger everyone is going through who files from Texas, California and Nebraska but PLEASE don't hate us, don't envy us and definitely don't jinx us. We're all going through the same headache visa process and it's not easy to be far away from your loved one. Everyone's turn will come.

I'm a Vermont filer, and it took a month to get an RFE, then another month once it went back to get NOA2. So it's not always super quick. I've been jealous too of a lot of Vermont filers - some are getting NOA2 within a week of NOA1.

Ponder the question a little further, and the answer is probably very clear..

VSC is limited to the geographical area filled with Politicians from around the world. We wouldn't want our politicians to wait along with the rest of us, would we?

If it's going to be, it's up to me!

I have been thinking about this a lot lately, since most of the people who filed in February at VSC, have already got their NOA2s...I am so happy for them, but at the same time it seems really unfair that just because of where you live your application is processed SO MUCH slower. I think they should send more people to VSC, like those people who live closer to Vermont :) I will be living in California so this doesn't apply to me, but it seems if they sent more applications there that would speed up the process. This was an interesting "why" question which I think A LOT of people think about...Milena.
