Hello everyone! We finally got our case number from NVC, now whats the next step?? Can anyone guide me through that? Is there anything we can be doing to have ready by the time the consulate gets all the paperwork and we can schedule interview?? Also, does anyone know how to track the case until ir arrives to embassy?? Any info will be helpful and greatly appreciated!!

Congrats to all those approve and those still waiting your time will come soon!!

You can go to https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx to check case status. If you see case status changes from "transit" to "ready",that means Counsulate has received and is ready for your interview. From there, each region and Consulate has it's own process procedures and some can schedule an interview right away but some have to wait until receives package from the Consulate. Here is what we did after "Ready"

1. Prepare and submit DS-160 visa application

2. Gather certified copies of birth certificate, police record (validity 1 yr)

3. Prepare resume, photos, relationship proof, intend to marry letter, I-134 and all required financial documents,

Once we receive the package from Consulate, usually takes one month from "ready", we will:

1. Pay the visa fee

2. Return required documents to Consulate

3. Schedule interview

4. Medical (needs scheduled interview confirmation page)

5. Obtain marital status certificate (validity 1 month)

Proposed fee increase for I-485 is about $1140 (currently $985). If it's passed, will probably be effective in Nov. 2016 ( last fee increase was in Nov. 2010).

Thanks for your response! It's a shame they're making it even harder on us by making it more expensive!
