Hi guys! My fiancé was denied a tourist visa twice. We have a lawyer helping us with our K1 and he's already said that that isn't a reason to be denied due to it being a different type of visa (K1 is a family based visa). He told us since my fiancé was denied for them thinking he would overstay his welcome, getting a K1 visa is different since the whole reason is for him to come stay in the US. So it shouldn't affect it :) I hope this gives you some peace of mind! There's a couple things that would make someone inadmissible to the US, but that isn't one of them

Thanks! that is very helpful but this is like a nightmare that is not going to ends until we get the visa ! please keep us posted !

Another question,

Are you guys starting to prepare any documents to send overseas? I heard we US citizens need to send documents to our significant other, such as tax returns, pay stubs, is this true?

I've been gathering some of the stuff listed from this page http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide (the box that says: What to send to your fiance once the I-129F is approved (Receive NOA2)). I haven't gathered everything but I'm trying to get somewhat of a head start :) I'm not sure if that guide has everything we need to gather, but hopefully it's helpful for you!

The guide here on VJ is helpful as the other poster stated. Also, have you tried searching on your embassy's website for a copy of their packet 3 instructions? I was able to locate a copy of the instruction sheet my (well, my finace's) embassy mails out.

It's been very helpful in helping me prepare everything to mail to him. And it's given me something to keep occupied with to help with this loooooong NOA 2 wait :clock:

05.12.16 - Petition received at USCIS

05.16.16 - NOA 1

05.21.16 - Hard copy NOA 1

07.21.16 - NOA 2

07.25.16 - Hard copy of NOA 2

08.05.16 - NVC case number assigned

08.10.16 - Case received at consulate, packet 3 received, DS-160 submitted

08.11.16 - Packet 3 mailed to embassy

08.18.16 - Packet 4 received, visa fee paid, letter from NVC arrived

09.02.16 - Medical

09.22.16 - Interview, received 221(g) :crying:, Case changed to administrative processing for missing documents :protest:

10.03.16 - Mailed off response to 221(g), bye bye passport

10.04.16 - Package containing documents + passport arrived at the Amsterdam consulate

10.17.16 - Approved!!!

I wish the embassy in Finland had that on their website. That would be really helpful in getting a head start! I've searched and searched but I just can't find it.

Is the below what your talking about? However, doesnt the ds160 replace the ds156, and ds 230. right?

Packet 3 Contains: U.S. Embassy will notify you when they receive your case from the NVC. They will verify information with you and mail Packet 3.

Instructions for completing application for K(1) visa including:

DS-156 applications(2 copies) must be filled out online at evisaforms.state.gov then printed in 2 copies with the bar code.

Ds-156 K (only for K1)

DS-230 Part 1

$350 MRV Fee paid at Embassy(K1)

I-134

Individual civil record + Translation

Family Extract + Translation

Police Certificates + Translation

List of doctors approved by the Embassy

Results of Medical Examination (Sealed)

Two Photos

Guidelines for the photographs needed for the application, with on the back, a list of photo studios that are familiar with the guidelines

Yes, you are correct about the DS160 replacing all of that. And is that fee correct? I thought I read somewhere the fee is $265. We may need to adjust our savings, if that's true! Lol! Also, Netherlands requires more photos (6 total - 4 for medical, 2 for interview). So that's a good guide to go by, but would be even better to find one from your specific embassy. Perhaps on your country's portal here someone that has recently gone through the interview could share it with you.

I got that from my country's portal. I am not sure about the cost, I will let my fiance deal with it in Lebanon...

Is there anyone in our forum for May filers that got NOA2's yet? The waiting is killing me.... Anyway, good luck to us all!

Yes. And I commented yesterday that I suspect a lot of the late April filers are actually May filers. When you look at timelines of some of them you will see for example someone will send their petition on April 29th and then they have it on their timeline as NOA1 April 30th. I dont know if thats even possible. I sent mine 1 day mail and by courier. It was received 1 day later on the 29th of April. I received text and email same day. BUT... On the paper I received in the mail it said "Notice date May 3rd". I think some late April filers are confused and using received dates as NOA1 dates. Its only a few days difference but for people waiting for NOA2 it can be frustrating.

It is indeed frustrating and put a lot of stress just by waiting and waiting. I research some of the Timelines and here in our forum that after NOA2 there's another waiting time again for our applications be sent to NVC. I cannot believe waiting like this can be so stressful. But I guess we are still lucky because now USCIS are working on May filers. Hooray for that! Good luck to us all that is still waiting.

Yea... This second wait kinda put a downer on it. Lol. Anyways it took me 69 days to get approved and my noa1 was May 3rd. Hopefully thats gives some people here in May some confidence that they are next. Good luck everyone!
