Late to the party but, woo!

We got our NOA1 on May 12th, that part was much faster than I expected!
Now this wait seems like the hardest thing I could have expected.
2 months apart already, probably 2 more months until NOA 2, and then who knows how long it will take to be sent to the consulate, then get the interview... I hope so hard that I can make it there by Christmas at latest.

The feeling of having the future of your relationship in a third-party's hands is in all ways, exhausting.

Hoping for the best. (god speed!)

question,

If I were to get an RFE, how long after submission of noa1 would I hear something from them that they need an RFE? I submitted my petition on May 23, 2016.

Thank you

Hi!

My fiancé sent in our petition on May 20th, and he has still not heard anything back. No email. No text. No NOA1. I'm really worried it has been lost. He stupidly sent cash so we can not track it from the bank. Is this normal to wait so long for NOA1? What is there phone number to call them please??

Please ignore my timeline it's wrong.

Lalalaura, Hi nice meeting you and welcome to the room!

I don't want to sound negative however, cash? That is not a way to pay for the fees, at all... I would tell you to ask him to call. Please adjust the timeline It help to have more accurate stats.

Paying Immigration Fees

Use the following guidance when paying filing, biometrics, or other fees to USCIS:

  • Bank drafts, cashier's checks, certified checks, personal checks (See Check Instructions below), and money orders must be drawn on U.S. financial institutions and payable in U.S. funds.
  • If you live in the United States or its territories, make the check or money order payable to U.S. Department of Homeland Security (not "USDHS" or "DHS").
  • If you live outside the United States or its territories and you are filing your application or petition where you live:
Credit Cards

USCIS accepts credit cards in all domestic Field Offices that accept payments. Accepted cards include Visa®, Mastercard®, American Express®, and Discover® Network.

USCIS Check Instructions

Customers that require payment for the services they are requesting are advised to follow the instructions below to ensure that their application will be filed correctly.

Check-Image2.jpg

If you are paying your fees by check, please be aware of the following:

  • Electronic Deposit of Checks – If you are paying your fees by check to the cashier, we will convert your check into an electronic fund transfer. When you hand your signed check to the cashier, we will scan your check and retain it. We will then use the account information from your check to make an electronic fund transfer from your checking account for the amount of the check.
  • Insufficient Funds – Please note that the electronic fund transfer from your account can occur faster than normal processing of a paper check. If we cannot complete the electronic fund transfer because your account has insufficient funds, we will try to make the transfer up to two more times. If your account still lacks sufficient funds, you will be billed the original check amount and a one-time administrative fee by USCIS.
  • Authorization – By presenting your check to the cashier, you authorize USCIS to convert your check into an electronic fund transfer. If the transfer cannot occur for technical reasons, you authorize us to process the copy of your original check through normal paper check procedures.

Please Note

Personal checks must be pre-printed with the name of the bank and the account holder. Also, the account holder’s address and phone number must be pre-printed, typed or written in ink on the check. All checks must be typed or written in ink.

  1. Write the date you are filling out the check including: month, day and year. Important note: Write the date of the check in the U.S. style of month/day/year. (Example: July 4, 2015 or 7/4/15, but not 4/7/15.)
  2. On the "Pay to the Order of" line write: "U.S. Department of Homeland Security."
  3. Write in numbers the exact dollar amount of the fee for the service you are requesting. In the example, the amount is "$595.00."
  4. Spell out the exact dollar amount of the fee for the service you are requesting. The "cents" portion of the amount should be written as a fraction over 100. In this example, the amount is "Five hundred ninety-five and 00/100."
  5. Write a brief description of the purpose of your payment. In this example, it is "N-400 application fee."
  6. Sign the check using your legal signature.

Hi and thank you.

I know it would have been better of course to pay by cheque and I told him but he sent cash. So with that in mind, any help on my original post?

If you call them they won't tell you anything. Once they get it they will send it back to you because it is not an acceptable form of payment. You will get your whole package back. It has to be personal check or money order drawn in a US bank. It takes a little over a month to get back to you. Good luck in the future!

Hi I appreciate your repose, however our first I-129f which we sent off last year with cash was accepted (it got denied due to other reasons so we are starting again) I told him last time and this not to send cash but he has. So I'm sure cash is acceptable.

You can call. I just know it says on their website the only forms of payment are check or money order. I know that unless it has been 30 days from the day it was sent they won't really help you. At least they didn't when I called. However I did wait 20 days for the NOA1 email. It is worth a try....it can't hurt =) good luck

Thank you we will try calling. Is this the correct number to ring? (800) 375-5283

We have no receipt or case number so how will they find our petition?

That's the problem. When I called they couldn't do anything for me because they didn't have a case number or anything. They might be able to look it up by your name. Not sure though lol the guy who helped me wasn't too helpful ?

Hey lady!

Based on what I've seen here on VJ anywhere between 5-30 days.

Positive vibes now come on!

I am afraid its gonna take too long because its been really a month and I havent gotten an RFE nor have I heard anything from them.

But I doubt I will get an RFE because I have sent the following items.

Copy of the Birth certificate

passport-type photo for me and for my fiance

Proof of having met in past two years

intent to marry within 90 days

boarding passes

engagement photos

I have sent all these do they require any additional documents ? will they still need an rfe? I guess my question is who gets an RFE? I know I have sent all the documents because a 3rd party agency was handling it
