Need some advice...

My spouse and i are filling out the Affidavit of support form and we are including irs transcripts. Now when the taxes were being filed for this yr we couldnt file jointly because they were requesting a ss number which i dont have since i am not a citizen therefore she filed single. My question is, do you think tht will cause suspicion or cause our case to be denied?

Your spouse needs to amend taxes immediately. She should've filed married filing separately

What do you mean "filed married filing seperately" and does tht mean i wouldnt need a ss number if she did it tht way

You can file your own return and get an itin or if you weren't living here he could list you as non resident alien

Ok. Do u think we can file it as single and then amend it later and take that with us to our interview if it's approved? We're trying to file as soon as possible as the papers have already been done and dated and we dont want to send them in too far from the date that is on them

If he hasn't filed at all I'd file it properly the first time.

If you got married before end of financial year. USC should apply as married- tax break. If you/immigrant don't have SSN leave blank or K-1... you should get a SSN, i got mine before i applied for AOS but after we got married...

You should file an amendment.
