I *should* be cleaning the house/listing stuff (ie my worldly possessions in their entirety) on eBay/getting ready for work tonight.

Instead I am (and have been for the past 3 hours) having an MSN Messenger conversation consisting almost entirely of emoticons, with my fiance's 9-year-old daughter, 'cos he got up and promptly went back to bed again!

My brain is about to implode from smiley-face overload! Heeeeeeelllllllppppppp!!!!

2005 - We met

2006 - Filed I-129F

2007 - K-1 issued, moved to US, completed AOS (a busy year, immigration-wise)

2009 - Conditions lifted

2010 - Will be naturalising. Buh-bye, USCIS! smile.png

Mags, the flower bed sounds lush.

I just bought three fruit trees today that I'm going to plant later. I was going to go shoe shopping but I'm too tired. Was up at 6:00 for my morning jog :( ( a new 'thing' I'm doing, grr) 7:30 church and then weekly shopping/errands, and just got home not too long ago. I'm goosed!

I must be tired if I'm passing up shoe shopping, lol.

I'm takin a nap!

Yeah it's not pleasant, but whaddya gonna do?

Mags, lol @ the dress...funnily enough, I'm not doin it for that. I've started this 'pre-conception' plan to get in the best shape I can be in. So I'm worried about my heart rate, quitting smoking, eating more often.

And I just realized now I forgot to eat today. Sh!t, hahahahahah.

Eh, my point is, if me & D get preg say 6 mos after he's here, I won't be delivering until I'm 34 and a few mos. So I'm just concerned about the age thing, and I read an article which says I should prepare now, so here I am.

Tho I'm sure it'll help the dress. Maybe one day I'll have thighs that can crack walnuts, lol

well you certainly got cool points for doing that :D

It really is a good idea to get yourself all prepared with health and stuff! YAY!

I like to exercise too but not before 9 am! I'm too lazy.

Oh and by the way I managed to shower and clean house! :D

mmarlo - what's your Ph.D. thesis on?

It's about some dialects of a language of western Kenya.

Jenn, does your husband speak any languages besides Moroccan Arabic, French, and English? Specifically, does he speak a dialect of Berber? I have a friend who speaks the Tamazight dialect. Berber dialects are so interesting because they have (long) words without vowels.

Wow, sounds interesting. I find linguistics fascinating.

My husband does speak Italian and Spanish in addition to the languages you mentioned, but no, he doesn't speak any Berber dialects. And thank goodness, I know I'm gonna have a hard enough time learning Darija, let alone a Berber dialect with no vowels! I believe there are several women who frequent the MENA forum whose SO's do speak Berber dialects.

Mine does! Tamazight ..and I know a few words - la bes, oho, Reeh amen, bzeff, eemeek, zig sbah- all with vowels  oh and I can count to 10 yen, seen, krad, koz, smoos, sddes, sa, tem, tza, mrawet :D

Greetings Everyone (Azul-in Tamazight). I'm a newbie here and I thought this was an interesting topic for a first post. I'm also trying to learn Tamazight, as my fiance is Berber as well. There is a CD-ROM by "Eurotalk" which I bought for learning Tamazight, but I think the dialect is Rif, High Atlas Mountain area of Northern Morocco. If you are trying to learn the Tamazight of the Middle Atlas (like I am), or of a Southern Morocco dialect, then the pronounciation is a little different from Rif, but that CD-ROM was the only one I could find. I already speak French, but I am trying for Arabic too! I take a beginner's Arabic class at a local mosque here in Houston every weekend. For me, the Arabic script is very difficult, compared to writing in the ancient Tachelhit that Imazighen (Berbers) use. But I do find that Arabic words are a little easier to pronounce, even though the Tamazigh language is absolutely beautiful. There is a nice website with each letter in Tamazight and an audio guide to help with pronounciation. My fiance shared it with me while I was in Morocco earlier this month, but I don't remember which one it is. I'll ask him for it and post it, inshaAllah.

Aafak Attas/ Sbah Ihar (thank you very much/good evening-in Tamazight!) :-p

Drats I used all my Tamazigh in my post just above yours and my husband is still alseep so I can't say anything else to you to greet you ! :P I pmed you because we are in Houston too and I foudn a very nice book on Darija with cd. It's really a textbook for learnign the language so it starts with the real basics rather than just travel talk. The lonely Planet phrase book has a Moroccan Arabic bok as well and there is a very small section with Tamazigh in the back. The audio cassette that comes with it only has the Arabic though.
