Amen, sista. Not always the case, but pretty darn close I'd say. Look at the expectation placed on "modern woman" today. Career, motherhood, keep the home sparkling, the laundry pressed, oh and if you're not absolutely pooped out after working 10 hours, chauffering your brood all over the place, getting groceries, cooking, cleaning up the mess everyone else leaves laying around "just for you", and making sure everbody has clean undies for morning... then you are supposed to be a slobbering, drooling, sex vixen in fishnets ready to crack that whip and make your man feel like a king. No problem.

I can respect the fact that you don't want to hear about it, but I don't think sexual repression (of men or, on the other hand, sexual oppression of women) is the right avenue. Perhaps a temporary fix, but not a longterm solution, and can result in more serious problems. For me, joking about it is a coping technique for being away from my love for a long time.

But, to respond to your post, I hate cold showers. Had to deal with that in Kenya. I can get used to it if I have to, but if there's an option, no thanks! :-)

That's my first instinct too, but I have to say I'm starting to question it. Generally, I think what is socially acceptable is defined by the majority opinion on the matter. It seems to me that among the VJ population at least, people think discussing sex fairly graphically is appropriate. Honestly, I've just never encountered RL situations where people are so open with details about their intimate lives.

I don't mind being the oddball though.

No, that's not what I mean at all. Humans are sexual, like all other animals. Men have desires that may or may not be satisfied. Pretending that they don't, or worse, saying that they shouldn't, have those urges is sexual repression. Whether you want to respond to the thread or not is completely orthogonal to that issue. I thought the Savage Love article was entertaining and a bit provocative, and it concerned how men should deal with having more of those desires than their partners. You're free to respond to it or ignore it. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

This article was funny. Though I'll tell you what: I did once eat those Rolled Gold (or whatever they're called) off Ben's ahem...nekked body. Just put 'em in a line and gobbled 'em up. GREAT way of killing two bird with one stone there: extreme hunger and "let's gedditon" time. I don't know what he would have thought of the whole cream cheese and salsa thing though - perhaps I could have made him hold the chips, then poured the salsa in his belly button and...umm...

Actually in all seriousness I often have a higher libido than he does. He's the one wanting to eat an entire package or Oreo cookies in bed more often than me. Having said THAT, we're still pretty active. And if that makes me a dirty..dirty ####### then oh well, who the hell cares! Muahhha - I know he doesn't! And who knows, it might switch around in a couple of years. And when I finally become preggo that could mean a pretty big switch!

I really think there's something to be said for combining food and sex though, let's be real. It's just practical. Plus if you're going to use the chocolate sprinkles, maybe it's just because it compliments the taste of that particular part of the male anatomy in the same way as say, chicken and shake 'n' bake. Only this time it's kinda...shake 'n' make...

Well, apparently we live very different lives. Sex always comes up when I'm together with other men, whether it's with other men in my family or my friends--most of whom are academics. Among my female friends, there's definitely less graphic talk about sex, but it probably depends on the particular group of people. It's different when I'm with my mom, who used to be a bit wild, but isn't anymore, compared to my sisters, who are missionaries, compared with my drinking buddies, fellow graduate students, etc.

Good point. You're right that different people view internet interactions differently. I guess I tend to be a bit more open because there is more anonymity, so if someone on here thinks I'm "socially retarded" for posting something that's honest and not what I think someone else thinks I should say, then so what. But if it sparks some interesting conversation, then great. I'm entertained, and maybe I see a different perspective or find some solidarity.
