Hi,

I filed my case for AOS and EAD in December after marrying my fiance. I got a reply for Biometrics and I had been done and over with my fingerprinting since January. All I've been waiting for since then is my EAD which according to the probable timeframe of 90 days should have been here in March. But it's May now and I'm still waiting. I have called the Uscis helpline and also received a notice from them saying "your case is under review". This was in April. I called them again last Friday and they said I have to wait till 30 days to hear back from them. 30 days ending tomorrow so I'll call them again to see why is it taking so much time! My husband and I are freaking out. Is it normal? I was supposed to get a job, start school, start a life here and I'm sitting at home. My honeymoon period has passed too now and i just want to do something. Don't even have a driver's license because theres no evidence of my case which is under process. :( Is it normal for it to take long guys?

Also, if I wanna take admission in a college, do you think I'd get it? I don't even know which category I fall into since I'm still waiting for all my documents.

Please, whoever has gone through this process recently, reply. :)

I don't believe it should take so long. I have had 3 EAD cards and all times have taken just over 2 months but never more than 3 months. When I filed my AOS a month later I had Biometrics in November then in First week of January my EAD arrived I'm sure if there wasn't holidays I would of had it sooner.

Maybe you can get in touch with your local congressman /congresswoman or ombudsman . I have heard that really helps to speed up the process

Thanks so much for replying. I was being told that it's normal for it to take this long. :( I'm worried now.

Your welcome, I guess everyone has different processing times depending where your filing from but definitely don't keep waiting. I have heard people in here have made contact with their congressman and received their cards or had more movement on their case within 2 weeks. Good luck hope you get your card soon

This happened to us as well. We contacted our Congressman. They contacted USCiS. And in our house they said that the background check was still pending and that is why it was taking so long. We applied in November for AOS and EAD. Got an RFE in December 2015 and submitted the paperwork in January 2016. We just got notice of the EAD and AP being approved on April 28. So don't worry, you'll get a response soon. Why not try making an appointment with a local USCIS office to inquire about it? Hope you get it soon. Take care!

Hi, thank you for the reply.

How did you contact your congressman? Via email or phone? And I have called the offices twice and all i hear from them is that my case is under review and i will receive a decision or further notice shortly. That's all. No time frame. Do you think meeting them in person will do better?

First by email. Then by phone and then back to email. Just check online for your local congressman and on their website they always have a section for inquiries. They didn't give us a time frame either, but eventually it happened. About meeting them in person, it may or may not help. I guess it depends on the case of heard of people saying that it's no use. But personally it shows that you're doing something right? So it would be up to you.

Hi,

I am waiting for the EAD card too, I filed the papers in the last week in January, and they mailed the approval notice in March but I missed it because my name was not in the mailbox, so I called them and they sent it to me back, I just done my fingerprint last May 4 and nothing new until now.

good luck

Why did you have to talk to them on the phone when you emailed? Could you please elaborate? And did it take time to hear back from the congressman? And you mentioned RFE earlier, what's that???

I'm sorry for asking so many questions but I'm actually thankful for this forum as my anxiety has somewhat subsided now. I'm still worried though.

I called the USCIS again today and again they forwarded a request only. Nothing else! I wonder why it's taking so long :(

Was it K1 visa for you too?

We called because they weren't getting back to our email. Then we left our info over the phone and got back to us through email. And it took about a week for them to finally notify us that the EAD wasn't going through because of the pending background check. And RFE is request for evidence. Basically if anything is missing in the initial packet you sent they send you a letter of what they need. I'm assuming that's the reason why we were delayed too.

When I check my status online, it says: "case was received".

However, the notice that I received after my service request was placed said: "Your case is under review".

Does it mean that I could be receiving an RFE too?

And what type of documents should I keep handy when I call the congressman office? Did you talk to the congressman directly?

And have you gotten your Employment authorization card yet or just an approval?

No it doesn't mean that once they send and RFE that status change to Request for Evidence Sent or something like that. I guess you could have your case number handy. But they would still email you back because they would need a consent form that will be signed by you to look into the case. No we didn't talk to the congressman. I believe it was an assistant that answered.

Thank you so much for your patience. I really hope this works out.
