My husband's not here yet and it's been a very long wait. But I just got new neighboors next door and had a chance to met them, the husband's Moroccan and he has his own restaurant. So, he must be doing good, but i'm guessing he came here with some money already.

His wife's American and they just got a house. Sorry, I couldn't me of more help.

Met online - May 2004

Met in person - August 2004

Got married - May 2005

Filed I-130 - July 2005

Filed I-129 - August 2005

My husband is Moroccan, but he doesn't participate in this message board. HOWEVER, When you come, GOD WILLING, don't be suprised if you have to wait a while to find work...and to get you work permit. Remember to have patience....things will come together IN TIME.....don't expect things to go quickly. I takes a LOT of hard work and persistance in order to have the "great American dream"---owing a home, a car....

Also be sure what your idea of "LIFE" is. Life is being with your loved one, but it is also paying the bills of life...electric, water, car insurance, car payment, buying food, putting gas into the car so you can go to work....this is all part of life.

I don't mean to sound down or sad, but make sure you have a REALISTIC Idea of how life really is. It is the same here as there.....the US may be where the love of your life is, and it may have more opportunities for work than your country, but life is life.......and life is also what you make it.

Good luck on your upcoming interview and God be with you!

Salam Yassin :) Marhaba :D

I am Moroccan too, my name is Yassin and I live in Dallas Texas for a year now...I lived in Boston MAssachusetts before, and from my experience, every state or region in the Us has its own characteristics...

Life in the US it's not as easy as a lot of people may think, it takes a lot of patience and hard work to make your dreams come true. The first thing you will need for that, is to be able to speak English, and when I say English I mean American English, not the English we learnt in high school in Morocco...

Second, if you are willing to learn Spanich or you do speak Spanish, you will be more competitive on the job market.

Third, one has to beleive that life is a journey, and that this world was not created in one day....

With that said I beleive that if you have a sweet heart that's supporting you with love you will be able to fit in the American Dream

Once again Good luck :star:

When Hicham worked at the Moroccan restaurant he learned Spanish and English as the cooks were either Moroccan or Mexican. He picked up some Spanish and was able to practice his English. Of course he also spoke Arabic with his boss.

One thing I think Hicham had to learn in the US is patience and willingness to try things and have enough confidence to go to the store alone and get around with speaking English. I think if you're able to put yourself out there and not worry too much what others think that you'll be fine.

Good luck to everyone!

Salam :D

I think there was, and there is still many bumps along the road. First, I had to make adjustement with the American food....Second, I had to be more understanding to the American way of life, the culture, the religion, the costumes... Third, I realized after working in many jobs that the best way to better my self is to get more education.

By the way, I came to the US in 2002 as a student before I met my wife
