What is the average time for getting NVC case # after they receive your packet?

My brother called NVC yesterday to find out if they have case number for his petiton yet and he was told it takes 42 days to put information into NVC system I was just wondering does it really takes them 42 days or they just don't want him to call them everyday for case number?

NOA1: 13 OCT 2015

NOA2: 22 APR 2016

Hey, that's what the agents at NVC said to me after my petition was approved on April 14th, case sent to NVC on May 2nd. Just yesterday they assigned a case number. So can take couple of weeks.

It took exactly 15 days for us to get NVC case number and 5 more days to get the invoice number.

What does your status say on the USCIS website? If it says "sent to department of state" it has gone to NVC already.

our reaffirmed case was already sent to nvc on 7th of september, how is possible that it is still not there? :-/

How do you know it got to the NVC? Do you have to call or is there some info on NOA2?
