I'm sorta in the same boat. My Mom's interview is on the 7th in Mumbai, but I already booked a flight for her on 14th with me. Really hope they sped up the time to under a week.

I PM'd a VJ member who's wife just recently went through the interview at Mumbai. He said his wife's passport was sent out the same day as her interview for Visa and it was ready to be picked up the very next day. Only thing is, she lives in Mumbai so her visa pick up location was the Mumbai location near the consulate. Even if they sent my husband's or your mom's visa for printing that same day, I don't know how long it will take for them to send it to another state for visa pick up. I would think it would just be a day or two more. I think there is a good chance that she could have hers before the end of that same week of her interview. My husband's interview is on a Friday, so i'm hoping he will have his by the following Wednesday.

Yeah my mom is in Hyderabad and the Passport will be sent to the Hyderabad VAC. She has 5 business days between the interview date and the date of departure hopefully it comes through.

Good luck to you hopefully yours comes in earliest as well!

One more person confirmed that his wife's visa was ready for pick up at the visa pick up location 2 days after her interview in Mumbai. so I think your mom's will also be ready before her flight. Now we just pray that the interviews go smooth and quick.

I spoke to someone who had this done 2 years ago. But he mentioned that they shipped it via DHL to the residence. I guess there's an option to pick up?

When I was going through the process for my husband to select a visa pick up location, it didn't give option for home delivery. Only from the designated locations they listed.

Update: Interview passed! Hoping for the passport to arrive ASAP.

Now on to complaints! The Mumbai US consulate system is HORRIBLE!!!!! There is no organized system of herding the people outside waiting. I arrived around 6:45 am and left by 1pm. Be prepared for chaos and lots of sitting.

I think you'll get the visa by Friday at the latest.

That's the first I'm hearing about Mumbai consulate not being organized. Is your mom coming on an immigrant visa? Everyone I've PM'd about Mumbai has said it went smooth and there is a separate line for Immigrant visas. There is waiting involved which I've already warned my husband about.
