Source?

It's a disservice when newbies come on here saying people can sponsor a visitor visa. Guess all of us long time posters are idiots for saying no one can sponsor a visitor visa.

And for your information, my brother, Daniel travel to the U.S. in 2010 and again in 2013 strictly for tourist purposes. He had U.S. sponsor who pay for him and all his expense two times. The sponsor sign letters and forms to sponsor Daniel. So don't tell people that no such thing as sponsor. His sponsor send documents to US Embassy. If there no such thing as sponsors for tourist visas, why on the USCIS website it talk about I-134 form for sponsors of visitors?

If sponsorship was possible, then everyone with a USC member can get a visa right?

You are mistakenly linking causality and end result. Just because your brother got a visa doesn't mean that the "sponsorship" was the reason. Maybe your brother qualified on his own merits.

There is NO sponsoring a tourist visa. Do you understand the definition of a "sponsorship" in this context?

Think of it this way. If a sponsor is needed for tourist visas then that means if I wanted to take my wife to Italy for a wine tasting tour, then go to Kenya for a Safari, then go to Brazil for Rio's Carnival... I would have to know an Italian, Kenyan, and Brazilian citizen (or relative) in each country that will sponsor each trip. It doesn't make since.

Sponsorship isn't required for tourism. It is a HUGE misconception with foreigners.

Invitation letters are often used though.

My manong Daniel did not require a sponsor, but it was helpful for him. His sponsor is old family friend of family and work for governor. The sponsor write letter stating why Daniel come to U.S. and how long he stay. Sponsor fill out official government financial form and include statement from employer and taxes. It was very complicated. Sponsor also had to give letter saying Daniel would have place to live for one month and also tell what Daniel will do while in US. such as vacation, amusement park etc. Even on his application he had to tell his US contact and what address he stays.

I made trips to the US without knowing anybody here.

I would imagine most people coming to see the Mouse etc etc do not have any US contacts.

I 134 is unenforceable anyway.

Sponsorship obviously has a leg meaning but also could mean paying for somebody, if you need somebody to pay for you then you are likely to be on the back foot.

It's already been posted here by JFH, but since people keep glossing over it and not reading the US website for Visa's, I will post it again, and highlight the text.

https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/visit/visitor.html

Note: Visa applicants must qualify on the basis of the applicant's residence and ties abroad, rather than assurances from U.S. family and friends. A letter of invitation or Affidavit of Support is not needed to apply for a nonimmigrant tourist visa. If you do choose to bring a letter of invitation or Affidavit of Support to your interview, please remember that it is not one of the factors that we use in determining whether to issue or deny a nonimmigrant tourist visa.

By all means provide them with an Affidavit of support, but do not expect it to help your chance for a Visa in ANY way.

My Wife got a B-2 visa to the US, because of 4 Major factors

1. She is a Teacher taking vacation during the school years winter break, only for the duration of the break, to return when school starts again

2. She has more than ample amount of funds to support her own trip, and was able to prove so

3. She had deeds to property in her name

4. She had 4 other stamps in her Passport from when she went to visit Russia, France, Germany, and Switzerland

Now know this as well. Reasons 1, 2, and 3 means diddly squat because she can always quit her job, the money can easily be moved to a US bank account, and she can sell her house.

The KEY reason she was approved is because she has a documented history of travel and obeying the Visa laws of other countries.

If she did not have #4 the likely hood of her getting a B-2 to the US was very very Slim.

I am an American Citizen. I traveled to China for work and dated a girl there for a few months. I invited her to come spend a few months with me in the US. She never had a passport and she got one in order to visit. I sent her all the information to apply for the Visa. At the advice of her family, she went to a Travel Agency prior to applying for the Visa.

The travel agent told her that they would reject her application due to her having not traveled before and the passport being brand new.

She has lots of ties to China. She holds deed to an apartment there that she pays the mortgage on. She has her job there. Her parents live there, and she spends her weekends with them.

She has no ties in the US other than me.

Does this travel agency have a valid point?

Is there a good resource for determining what she should do to be able to get this visa?

Fiscal year 2015, Mainland China passport holders' approval rate is 93%, vast majority of applicants have their visa approved. If she has a job and income, she'll be approved. you don't even need to use a travel or visa agency.

Actually, I have heard about this sponsor before. It isn't very common now but when I moved to the US first, my friends used to bother me about sponsoring them to come here. The sponsor entails providing financial documents to show that you will be hosting the visitor and be financially responsible for their room and board.

The sponsor starts with an "Invitation letter" then adds the financial documents.

They do exist. i don't know the link but I have heard it from several people.
