AOS Interview – I-94 Removed

We had our AOS Interview (3-07) at our local (LA) office, and the adjudicator removed my wife (K-1) and son (K-2) I-94 from their passports.

We were told that once name check is completed everything would move at a fast pace.

Is it normal procedure to remove the I-94 from passports at your interview?

Our AO didn't touch my husbands I94 when he told us the security clearance was not done.

I would have questioned him strongly if he had.

Good point, I guess they really shouldn't take the I-94 unless the GC is approved.

The I-94 was removed and stapled to papers in our case. I don't want to answer my own post, only wanted know if others' have had this happen.

You can tell when your interview is going good or not. The removal of the I-94 happen after the hold your right hand and tell the whole truth thing, and asking us small questions.

What I got from that we are moving forward since your AOS case (4 inches thick) is solid pending namecheck and you passed this part of AOS.

This could also be a California DO thing also.

I'm not sure of any negative side effects of having your I-94 taken away, I guess it might cause an issue if you travel on AP and you don't give it in when you leave. However I'm guessing if they took your I-94 it probably means your case is all good apart from the FBI name check.
