i'll be going to the one in windsor and, after checking their website, they recommend my regular family doctor write them a brief statement about my medical history and psych history. i have panic attacks often and have been to the ER often, would that be a big deal? i went to a psych for about a year a couple years ago, and have been on anti-psychotics before and such to help with my panic attacks.

my question is, would it be more wise to just not have a letter from my family doctor? lol. or even though they say they recommend it, it's not a big deal and i wont be turned down? i'm not on any medication currently, if that changes anything.

also, it mentioned they take appointment call tuesdays but they set up the times according to how they want. my appointment in on april 5th, but i havent received my final packet yet (i just found out from the NVC). would i make it in time?

anyone else find it creepy they have a note on their site that they dont care if you have your period, theyll do the exam anyways :bonk:

I had my K1 physical in Windsor with Dr. Laura Penava this past December and I did not require anything from my family doctor. I actually didn't see that mentioned on their website ... oops! Perhaps it's something new though?? What they did ask for was my letter from the consulate. Also, regarding the whole period thing. My physical was not that kind of physical. It was the most non-physical physical I've ever had. Dr. Penava did not examine me down there. So, that is probably what they are saying when they say that having your period will not matter.

I had my physical with Dr. Laura Penava as well back in 2004. I just needed my letter from the consulate, my passport, the fee of course and I believe 2 or 3 photographs, but they only took one. Yes, it was the most non-physical physical I have ever had as well! I felt that it was probably some of the easiest money the doctor ever earns. One thing useful - bring along all of the information you have on your immunizations - a letter from your doctor saying what you have had, what is up to date, etc., immunization records from school or childhood or the yellow international immunization record book - the doctor will use all of them to put together your vaccination worksheet. She gave me a photocopy to use on the AOS application before I even knew I would need it:-).

If you are in the Windsor area and haven't looked into her office, I have no problems recommending her - they ask questions about mental health but if you explain about having had panic attacks and have a list of when you needed the medication and what it was, that shouldn't be a problem. They are concerned about people who might be or have been a danger to themselves or anyone else. A note from your doctor saying you are perfectly healthy mentally and no danger to yourself or others would actually help you.
