Sputum test - Egypt - Interview soon, help?!

We received word a week ago that my husband's interview is set for end of June. Found out he's going to need a sputum test for tuberculosis in addition to the regular medical. Not answering the whys, so please don't ask.

My questions are:

1) I read on other posts here about NOA2 validity? What does this mean?

2) Also read others post that the fee for the sputum test is included in the medical fee? They're telling us it's an additional cost.

3) Can we proceed with the interview and the embassy will just wait for the medical results? The doctor said yes. They'd just send the embassy the results as this sputum test will take 8 weeks. We're going for the sputum test roughly 3 weeks before the interview, so it'll take 5 weeks after the interview for us to get the culture results. Is this an issue or will the embassy just wait?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

I've seen other posts where people rescheduled the interview... Really hate to do that. Can't they proceed with AP check while they await medical results?

It all depends about your embassy. Some embassies will not conduct the interview and have you reschedule.

Why not do the medical soon as possible that way by interview you would have like a 1 or 2 week week.

Because first, the sputum test is separate from the regular medical exam. Second, the lab said they couldn't do it until end of this month. Even if they could do the sputum test tomorrow, it takes 8 weeks to receive culture results... Interview is 6 weeks from today. There is most definitely no way we would have 1 or 2 weeks from medical to interview, with waiting for the sputum test results.

I know I could call the embassy but figured someone here would have useful information. Thanks, anyway.

Maybe posting this wasn't a good idea because I don't want to freak anyone out. Never in my post did I write that it's for all. We found out because my husband has a medical issue and we called the "regular" exam doctor to inquire what we need to do or bring to the exam. If you need to know what the regular examination includes, see the US Embassy website for Cairo, section on immigrant visa medical exam. Sputum test is NOT listed there. To my knowledge, it's a blood test for syphilis, xray for tuberculosis, medical exam, and vaccinations.

IF your husband/wife has any health condition that you know of, I would advise you call the exam doctor he/she will go to to inquire about anything additional that MAY be needed.

There is? When we called the examination doctor in Alexandria, he told us the only lab that does this test is in Cairo. We already know how long it will take, as I posted previously. 8 weeks. It cannot be rushed. Hopefully, he's negative.
