K1 Medical [merged threads]

Hi guys,

Hoping you can help me with a question.

I am wanting to attend my medical sooner rather than later (there is a waiting list at my medical center and I have a couple days off work coming up which I can attend a medical during).

I am aware of the medical validity (6 months / 3 months) and how the medical report validity dictates the expiry date of the K1 visa to enter the US.

My question is, can I 'front-load' my application (ie, get the medical done at the approved US visa medical center BEFORE the USCIS requests me to), or do they give me something like a specific reference number when they request me to get the medical that I need to use at the medical center?

Essentially I am wanting to attend an interview ASAP after they have my case at the consulate and I am wanting to have all the required docs ready (medicals, police clearances, etc.).

Trying to save myself a month or two really and get over to my fiance.

Thanks A lot.

Matthew

You will need to have an appointment letter from the embassy or you will be rejected by the medical clinic.

That's not true for all countries. Remember it's different from country to country how it's done.

For AU I do believe you need the Case number from NVC before you can book your medical. You might want to ask them (The AU forum) since it's a specific question to that country.

Good luck on your journey :)

I had mine early, on the basis of having the AKL case number. We got hung up for a couple of months in AP, and I sent them an email to find out if my Canadian police clearance expired, would I have to redo it. They stated they would honor it if I stayed out of Canada. Due to the delay caused by AP, I asked could go ahead and get some of the bits and pieces done. They went ahead, on the basis of having the number, and sent out packet three.

Perhaps if you email them your question? Give it a go :)

Here is a link to your countries consulate info

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

You have to wait for your case to be transferred to your consulate, then get an interview letter (p4) before you can have a medical. As far as I understand it, only countries with DCF can have their medical without having an interview in place.

Where are you in the process? Please fill in your timeline. Since everything is slowing down recently, I wouldn't risk an expired medical.

Anyway, you'll need your case number to book the medical, and maybe also the interview date (depends). Remember, it could be a wait to get the interview also.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

First thread has been moved from the K-1 Process forum and merged with the restart in the Australia/New Zealand regional forum.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Thank you very much Arlinda!

I will re-post in the AUS specific thread / forum.

Your case from I129 to interview went really quickly!

You are Welcome, Matt1515. (I am Blue Raven now.)

I politely kept in touch with them: emailing them when I needed clarification or status updates, the instant the allotted time passed at each stage, for example. I even respectfully suggested the interview date and they honored my request!

Had we not forgotten a statement in the beginning (necessitating an RFE), perhaps the process could have been even faster.

I hope yours goes even faster than ours! Good luck on your journey!
