Zach! Great to hear your case was received! And you're still a May filer - awesome! Now to wait! Hopefully the rest of your journey is smooth sailing x

Hi Ahmed! If you scroll back in this thread, you'll find that Zaxh had messaged earlier about his concerns with his packet! There was complications with the money check they sent and so it was sent back. Luckily Zach could send the I130 to the states for relatives to send to USCIS! :)

Mrs Rogers has it right - thats our story so far. USPS attempted delivery to USCIS in Chicago on Saturday 28th - obviously they were closed and a card was left. USCIS picked it up from the post office on Tuesday 31st at just before midday so we're hoping to get an SMS or e-mail soon. According to my wifes uncle, the check he included was a cashiers check so we again have no way to check if its been cashed or not but hopefully it was or will be. I really cannot fathom there being any more problems with our packet but who knows. We seem to have bad luck!

So Mrs Wild - it looks like your packet was received by USCIS the same day ours was - the 31st. I'll be interested to see if we get our NOA1's at roughly the same time! Glad to have found someone whose packet was received the same day as now w can compare :)

Hi zach21uk! Our check was cashed early this morning, so your payment was probably cleared today as well! :) Did you submit the electronic contact form to received emails/texts? I skipped it, so now I'll just sit here and impatiently wait for the NOA1.

Evening All,

We just received our NOA1 email from USCIS giving us our receipt number and informing us that our case has been routed to Nebraska!

Woohoo! Looking up the case on the USCIS website it says our case was received May 31st. Is that our priority date?

I would assume so! The priority date doesn't really matter for this type of visa though, since they're immediately available. But they have to put something in that box, so they just put the date they received your file.

Sounds like a few other May filers were sent to Nebraska as well! I'm waiting on my hard copy of the NOA1. :clock:

I received my NOA1 via e-mail/text on May 23rd, 2016, but still haven't received the hard copy. Until today morning, there was no status on the USCIS website https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do either. Today it finally updated to "Case Was Received". It doesn't say much more than that.

Is this what your status reads as well? "On xyz date, we received your form I-130, and sent you the receipt notice that describes how we will process your case. if you do not receive your notice by xyz date, call Customer Service at 1-800-375-5283."

From everyone's experience, how long does it usually take to receive the hard copy....

I mean, I don't live in middle of a jungle, so postal service should be able to deliver mail quite easily.

2016/05/20: NOA-1 - Petition accepted and sent to Nebraska Service Center... So begins the waiting game :clock:

2016/11/02: NOA-2 - Petition Approved (Had to call to find out, no e-mail or text) :dancing:

You should probably get the hard copy some time this week. It seems that on average, can take up to 2 weeks for the form to arrive. Although, it looks like people have been getting them fairly fast lately. As long as you have your case number, I think that's what you can go off of. The status online sounds about right.

Thank you Mrs. Wild! I was just curious about the online status. I had seen an image//screenshot some where where it actually showed the various stages within USCIS that a case is at. I.e. Received, NOA1, Step # 1, Step # 2, . . . , NOA2, Sent to NVC. It would also have dates for the steps as well. So you can see exactly where your case is. I will try to find that and share with everyone.

What do you guys think of the premium processing that USCIS offers? https://www.uscis.gov/forms/how-do-i-use-premium-processing-service

I think they only offer it for H-1 visa related things, & unfortunately I-130 isn't one of them :(

Why don't they offer it for people like us!? I think I would pay whatever their fees would be to help expedite this process

premium process is only for some employment visa

Premium Processing Service provides expedited processing for certain employment-based petitions and applications.......

Sadly, it's probably even worse. Not only do they not offer it for us, but it slows down the processing of our cases as they divert resources to the premium processing cases. The H-1B process which happens once a year certainly slows things down and probably has lots of premium processing cases...as the $1200 fee is nothing to a company that wants a worker from abroad.

This is the status format I was referring to, where it shows all of the steps. However, I think this might be an old format, replaced by the current more simple one.
