What comes in the mail after I get notification that im approved? Approved Oct 11. Can I pay fees now may be I'll call

You can not pay fees until you get your NVC case number, which usually takes around two weeks after they receive it. You will have to call NVC to get this number. Lately, though, approved cases have not been forwarded to NVC immediately, so it could be anywhere from three to six or more weeks from now until you can move forward with your case!

I caught the post on voting and resource re-allocation.

We all applied too early and in the wrong year because:

  • Not all those who get a Green Card will be able to vote locally/State level, the citizenship request upswing is less about voting in Nov and more about making sure a person is safe and secure if they feel the rules will change with the new President.
  • And this will make you happy: https://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/overview states "supporting the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) transition to launch the new myUSCIS which makes it easier for users to access information about the immigration process and immigration services. To institutionalize the dramatic improvements that this approach has demonstrated, the Budget supports the Administration’s aggressive goal of hiring and placing 500 top technology and design experts to serve in the Government by January 2017"

I am guessing Nebraska is closing a mix of May and June files at present based on the posts, unless of course you come from the Phillipines which strangely has a hit and miss completion of 1-3 months for files, as in our August filers list one has already got their NOA2 ( CR-1 or IR-1 unknown). It is a pattern which seems to repeat through the other months.

Well... May2 NOA1 and stillllll.... hanging in there.

Today we got a weird App alert - - our update ("case result changed") is the exact same message we got back in June, with the same date (that they couldn't deliver the NOA1 paper to our residence in Spain).

Freaky.

I'm hoping that it means someone touched our file and hit a wrong key... at least it would mean that someone's touched our file!!

168 days now.

Hello all,

Just received a ping in the USCIS Android App about 30 minutes ago that our case status was updated. Rather than the NOA2 that we were hoping for though, it appears our case has been transferred:

On October 18, 2016, we transferred your Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, Receipt Number LINXXXXXXXXXX, to another USCIS office. That office now has jurisdiction over your case. We sent you a notice that explains why we moved your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your notice by November 17, 2016, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice.

Obviously we're going to have to wait for the letter to arrive to find out WHERE we have been transferred (which usually takes about 7 business days to get to us from the States) however I am wondering if anyone can tell us whether this is a good thing or a bad thing? Are we going to end up waiting months and months again for someone to touch our case?

Our NOA1 date is May 31st.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Mine is transferred to Texas center. You are going to get a letter for where your case has been transferred, but you can also find out by calling USCIS they will mention the new office for your case. As earlier, someone mentioned that it is because of election workload. I hope texas center is faster so we don't get much delay.

Thanks for your reply. I just called the automated USCIS phone line and it said that our case has been transferred to Lincoln, Nebraska.

Now we are a bit confused as our case was already in Nebraska - our NOA1 stated the case was being handled by the Nebraska Service Center.

So our case has been transferred from Nebraksa to.........Nebraska?!

Yeah our NOA1 was May 31, and today our case status finally changed only to tell us that it's been moved "to a local office". Some ferocious googling later and it seems like it could really be any number of things, some seem good, some seem terrible. At least it means someone has touched our paperwork. But i'm 7 and a half months pregnant and would really like to have a solid idea of what my future is going to look like beyond waiting to see my husband.

All complaining aside, it looks like they're just trying to spread the work around a but. Hopefully that means faster processing. Fingers crossed.

Spoke with centre yesterday, matter unrelated to filing but travel, frequency and other pointers because of elderly family-in law in the US and some "what-if scenarios."

Asked as well about: https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processingTimesDisplay.do - as out of dated and as usual you wait long enough on the phone and it is updated!

It was confirmed that work was underway on June filers and that the workload is still heavy. Staff shortages have not helped due to budget allocation and the need to cope with the backlog of "problem cases" which do not go away.

I am tracking this forum to see what I will expect to encounter down the line! As an Aug filer I hope this info helps as more people view than comment in the forums.

Hey Mrs Rogers,

Given that our priority dates are the same (May 31st) and that our cases were/are both with the Nebraska Service Center, I think we can act as a good comparison source for each other.

Therefore, if you happen to receive your letter regarding yesterday's case transfer before I do, I would appreciate you sharing the contents. It generally takes 10-14 days for letters from the US to reach us in Cyprus, and the US postal system seems very slow right now (probably due to the upcoming election) so I have no idea when it might turn up.

I got another notification this morning at 5am that our case was updated again but when I checked the website it was the same. I checked with the automated phone system once more and it is still saying that the case was transferred to Lincoln, Nebraska for "further processing" which still makes no sense given that that is where the case already was :/

Bizarre!

It looks like there is glitch in USCIS text notification system; I got an update yesterday at 7 p.m. that my case was updated after an RFE response on October 11th; but when I checked case status it is the same.

So never trust text notification unless you get an email plus case status is updated.
