I omitted some details, one of them is that the interview was actually at the zoo, it is an existing place so i guess that answers most of the concerns.

So I received an update from the employer. He said he learned that the sponsorship would cost a lot and the company doesn't do that, somehow they would hire me if i can get it myself. I suggested J1 visa which would not cost them and he said i could give the sponsor organisation his contact.

Tomorrow i am planning to call the organisations and find out what do they have to say. website asks 645 dollars and lists about 300 dollars of other costs. Also, requires me to have 500 in pocket at the arrival.

It is gonna be a very tough next week.

Which zoo in Minnesota?

Lake superior zoo?

I check that all of the internships for college students at Minnesota Zoos are unpaid.

So OP probably has to pay for his/her own way to work at the zoo?

By the way, Minnesota Zoo is so - so.. not much animals to see.

I am not sure these J1 jobs are "internships." At the National Parks, they have a ton of summer workers from abroad. They work as cashiers or waiters and then travel a few weeks at the end. I am sure they are paid, and the trade off is free housing, and some travel possibility at the end. Plus friends. Sounds fun.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

Have you looked into working in other countries? It could broaden your options.

well, I don't speak any other language than English and Turkish, nor do I know anyone or have anywhere to stay in the UK or Australia.

I will try work on this opportunity a little bit more.

There's also Canada. They have many opportunities as well. Many J1's will include housing. Have you looked into the Disney program?

I checked about canada, ''work holiday'' they had. but i couldn't find an option for the Turkish citizens and it would be very hard getting a job without having a face to face interview, which i think was the main reason the minesotan zoo considered me.

As i mentioned in the other topic (at that time it just made sense to start another for some reason, sorry) i seem to have missed the deadlines for J1 and it is not profitable for my employer to sponsor me on their own.

I am going to send a negative email to the employer and let this go.

thanks everybody who tried to look up for me!
