Hi All,

Anyone with the following experience ? I am DV2007 winner , my wife and myself had our interview in January ( still pending ).

I was wondering if we could withdraw my wife application because basically she needs to attend to our business in the UK and at this point do not desire moving to the USA.

what would be the consequence of withdrawing the derivative from an application ?

how would the spouse of a Diversity visa winner follow up at a later date ?

Thanks in advance

Congratulations on being selected!

You and your wife might want to do more research into this. As far as I know, if your wife does not take this opportunity to become a US Permanent Resident with you, it will be 5 or so years before she will be able to join you.

Permanent Residents may petition for their spouse to join them and become PR also, but there is a long list of people and a short number of visas for this category.

You can look at uscis.gov for information on family based green cards to find out the steps involved and do some searching of other discussion groups to verify that the wait is indeed this long.

If I were in your shoes, I would seriously think about this plan.. I think the consequences are too steep.
