So far, I've payed for the initial filing. My fiancee' says he will pay part of the medical and visa fees, but as he is still in school he can't pay for all of it. So the majority is payed by me, the female petitioner.

Our K-1 Visa/AOS/RoC timeline can be found here.

Male petitioner has paid everything. No complaint about who paid. But it's added up!

When AOS is done it will be about $1000 in fees to the government. About $1000 travel and lodging for her consulate interview. About $1,200 to fly her here - not actually a visa expense per se but an expense of the whole process. Throw in medical and it's pushing $3500.

Include 6 trips to Brazil in a little over a year and I'm broke!

I thought I had written in this poll. Guess not!

I myself hardly paid for anything. I was newly out of college and in a crappy job until just before he moved here when I got a better job. I didn't have much extra money.

Good friends of mine gave me the $ to send the I-129F petition. (I didn't ask for it, but they did it anyway)

Sujeet paid for basically everything on the India side of things for the visa process: visa fee, police record, medical exam, etc. My parents contributed some money towards extra costs.

My grandmother gave us money to buy Sujeet's plane ticket to move here with the K1 visa. (She also had helped me out a little to get to India to meet Sujeet in the first place).

I paid toward wedding planning costs along with my parents.

AOS and associated fees were payed for by a lot of our wedding money.

Thank God we aren't in the same place financially anymore, that was stressful!

Really this is not a huge issue for us because quite frankly he could never afford the entire bill living on a Cuban salary. Things are just different there and honestly I do not mind at all having to pay for most of it... because he will one day be here with me. Plus, isn't there that waying "what's mine is yours... and your is mine"? :innocent:

I'm right there with you Reb, the person that pays is who ever can afford it to bring us together and the reality is that I can afford everthing with my salary. We don't look at it that way though, because for instance when I lived over there, I was living rent free with him and we were just humbly in love. When I moved back here I specifically got a job so we could reunite with eachother, and that's the beautiful price of love (sacrifice) that I will continue to pay as long as it brings us together

I think dollar for dollar, he, the beneficiary is paying for more. I took care of the I-129F, he's taking care of the K-1, which includes the medical fees. I don't count in plane costs and such into the 'visa process' as they were part of the relationship long before we decided to get married (it would be like counting the food bill as 'visa food'), but we each pay for our own trips back and forth.
