US Visa Interview Experience for USMLE Step 2 CS at Islamabad, Embassy of USA.

-As I was coming from Lahore and was advised to book the earliest available appointment i.e. 7 am as Consulate Officers are having a fresh mind at that time (Not tired of checking many applications) so i booked that.

-It was January 2015 winter and fog time.

-I booked Daewoo ticket from Lahore to RWP for 11pm but in the evening, I got a text that this time has been dropped and the only time available was 7pm. I went to daewoo terminal lahore and found out that this time has also been dropped and now only one daewoo is going at 8:30pm.

-I waited for that and finally boarded the bus which came at 9pm. (Normally daewoo doesnt do these type of delays but i was disappointed that day).

-Bus took me to Rawalpindi terminal at 1:30pm. I found a good spot and rested till 3:30am.

-Then i had some breakfast of Pizza which i already brought from Lahore and some milk from that terminal.

-Got ready till 4:45 am.

-There is a small office outside sitting area for Islamabad Shuttle. Went there bought ticket for Rs. 50 and took the shuttle at 5am.

-As all the roads were empty so it only took 20 mins to reach Islamabad Terminal of Daewoo (which is just like a small shop) in G7 Khadda Market.

-There were a lot of Taxi's out there (which are worse than even Rickshaws). Took one to go to Diplomatic Visa Shuttle Service on murree road for Rs. 300/-.

-The road seems dark with forest around it but when i reached there at 5:50am. There were already few cars and a short line in front of it.

-The shuttle door opened at 6am. They saw original NIC to allow entry.

-After going in, there is a small shop in parking where i deposited my bag as they dont allow it to go in.

-I then went inside and got in line for my bus ticket.

-It was a long line.. they gave me a ticket for Rs. 500 they give for Rs. 200 and start issuing tickets at 7am only but the line is so big that you have to come early in order to get early). They give bus ticket by checking appointment confirmation and passport/NIC.

-Then i went to counter no. 1 to deposit my mobile.

-After security check in, i went outside and sat in the chairs. Bus came and we all boarded the bus for USA.

- That bus took us to the biggest embassy in Islamabad, the Embassy of United States of America.

-There is a small office outside that takes Passport, DS 160 and Pic. They also ask about whether you want to give Iv in english or Urdu. For doctors i was advised to say English and i did so.

-Then you go towards another door....the guard lets you get in upon turn and then you have security check in. Dont keep any electronic device or metal things. Avoid any jewelary and perfumes.

-Then you go inside for Biometric check in.

-They take your height and then take finger prints of all 10 fingers.

-Then you go to counter for Interview.

-If you are going to take in Urdu then there would be a lot a people and you would have to wait for token no. but usually there is no one for English Interview so i immediately got my turn.

Interview Questions were:

Above was my Single Entry Visa for One Year.

I went to US, Took my exam, did externships in US Hospitals to gain United States Clinical Experience and then cam back to Pakistan. Within a week after coming back to Pakistan, I again applied for B1B2 visa for my USMLE Step 3 Exam. Everything happened in the same way as mentioned above but officer asked only few questions like

Why Do you want to go to US?

For my USMLE Step 3 Exam.

Have you been to US Before?

Yes for my USMLE Step 2 CS exam.

What is your speciality?

I said Internal Medicine

Who is supporting you?

I said my brother.

Didn't even see any documents and immediately approved 5 year multiple entry visa which i received in 5 days from Lahore Pickup point.

Some posters have asserted that it is difficult for doctors to get a B2 for this purpose, but the criteria is the same as for everyone else. You have to have strong enough ties to your home country to convince the CO that you will be returning at the completion of your authorized entry.

Using the B2 responsibly for the first visit is generally seen as a positive factor for subsequent non immigrant visa applications, so it is not unusual that your second one seemed easier and was issued for multiple entry. Congratulations on passing your exams.
