Can you tell us what happened at the interview?

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Can you tell us what happened at the interview?

The interview went well... I gave everything i needed tot he first lady and then waited... second lady asked me lots of questions, and told me everything seemed fine, they were waiting on my medical results as soon as they came in they would print my visa into my passport and sent it to me. She explained about not opening the brown envelope and then i paid for the postage.

I also called the medical people yesterday.... they told me everything was fine with my medical and the embassy recieved it on thursday.

Thanks everyone x

I sounds like good news. Just hang in there and do the best you can to be positive, even tho it is easier said than done. I will be looking foreward to seeing your announcement " I got the Visa ! ". (F)

Kat, you chose to have your medical the day before your interview. From what I have seen in this community, the delay you are experiencing is not unusual. Indeed, with London, even had your medical been done in advance of the interview, at best I think you MIGHT have had your visa in hand Friday.

Patience, grasshopper.

Hehehe.... Chocolate Teapot.

It takes a while. Be patient.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

Ah. An incorrect assumption on my part about the 'chosing' then.

Still though I think your delay is very normal. If recollection serves me, my husband's interview was on a Tuesday. I know his visa did not come until Friday (heck it may have been Saturday) and his medical had been done several weeks earlier.

Aww Kat...everything points to a VISA! (instructions for the brown envelope, the medical looked fine etc.) Its safe for me to say Congratulations!! (ya did it!)

By the way...for you other posters...what happens when the medical ISNT ok? Do you get notified or does the person giving your interview get to be the bearer of bad news?

Well, as far as London goes I can offer some insight.

My husband was told that if there was anything remarkable about his health, he would receive a call from the panel physician.

I have read of at least on UK beneficiary who was informed by the panel physician of an abnormality on an xray.

The purpose of the medical at all consulates is to check for communicable disease. The panel physicians manual goes on pages and pages about tuberculosis. I know whatever the findings are about any communicable disease, such conditions are definately going to be reported to the consulate.

Only consulates can deny a visa. A physician cannot. The FAM contains direction to the CO's as to what conditions may be waiverable.

Anecdotal evidence in this community indicates that after the medical, no news from the panel physician is generally good news insofar as that requirement for visa issuance.

I always wondered that. I also wonder about people who have their medical a day or two before the interview. I have had HIV tests in the past and again recently because of my pregnancy and the fastest they could get my results back to me was in just over a week. They must whip those results out over night to be able to approve a visa that quick. Or maybe thats why you dont get your visa on the same day as the interview. But then if the physician says that everything is ok what other processing is taking place that would require a week or so to get the passport back?

Hi Kat,

If the Embassy only got your medical results on Thursday, don't worry... it sounds like everything was fine, but that it'll probably just take a few days to get the visa to you like it (seems to, looking at timelines and what people say on here) does for everyone else. I had my interview on Thursday and they'd had the medical results for a few weeks, but have been thinking Monday is the earliest I can expect to see the visa!

You did pay the courier, right? Supposedly they will send a text message (the day before?) to let you know when they plan on delivering... again, from what I've read on here, it sounds like they don't always do that, but if you haven't got it on Monday, maybe you could give them a call? (Haven't tried it myself, so for all I know, the couriers could be even WORSE than a chocolate teapot at getting info out of, but might be worth a go!)

Anyway... don't be angry, sounds like you're well within the 'normal' amount of time to be waiting, especially as they've only just got your medical results back... be happy, you're almost there! :)

2005 - We met

2006 - Filed I-129F

2007 - K-1 issued, moved to US, completed AOS (a busy year, immigration-wise)

2009 - Conditions lifted

2010 - Will be naturalising. Buh-bye, USCIS! smile.png

The embassy required some additional information from me after my interview; they had kept my visa and I'd paid the courier fee. It took them a month to get my visa to me so I wouldn't start panicking. They can be REALLY slow when dealing with this kind of thing.

It'll come, don't worry! :)
