Reagan was likeable by the standards of most people, even Carter supporters didn't find Reagan to be a pompous, schoolyard bully, at best bigoted but to most outright racist, hate mongering, literally an actor but not admitting that his campaign was an act, golden Tribble be-topped angry man.

I don't see Herr Drumpf overcoming his negatives with the majority who find him repulsive and switching parties to vote for Herr Drumpf.

Hilary is horrible too but most people find her less horrible than Drumpf so I don't see the path for Drumpf to get detractors to bite.

We're doomed.

Are you sure? It seems to me that he has defied pretty much the entire establishment of political pundits. They have constantly been wrong. I listened to them early on and also was wrong for it.

Trump can't win without women. Hillary can't win without men. As readyone pointed out, they are both vehemently hated. Currently Clinton is mildly less hated. That's hardly a sure path to victory.

At this stage I give mildly stronger odds to shillary winning. It may be a landslide, but Trump has gone from joke to nominee of the GOP. His odds are real, and believe me (trump voice), Hillary is scared. If she loses the election against Trump, as is a real possibility, her shame will be immense and delicious.

And it's crossed mine that Trump is still just doing this as a reality tv show, but RCP trump vs hillary has shown that over the past few months, for tiny periods, they have been at parity. It's entirely possible that the cards fall in a certain way in november to give him a victory. I think there are more things working against clinton than against him, as he is not an incumbent politician under criminal investigation. He is on the hook for nothing, she is for much. The FBI alone can shut her nomination down if we're lucky enough to see the DOJ indict.

Yes I'm sure. Thus far Trump has only been playing to the republicans, of which the majority are men. Now he has to persuade the moderates for their support, which he needs to win. He will be crushed by the moderate and democratic female vote, not to mention I doubt he'll gather much of the male vote from those two groups either. He has done everything possible to alienate women and it's worked. I'm not so sure he'll get the majority of the female republican vote. There is a very good chance Trump could lose by double digits in November. I believe the last time that happened was Reagan over Mondale in 84.
